COLLEEN ANNE LANG
(née HENTON)
June 7, 1958 - April 6, 2019
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Colleen passed away in Riverview Health Center, on April 6, 2019 at the age of 60 years.
Colleen is survived by her loving husband of 36 years Garry; daughter Janelle (David) Mitchell; son Lucas; granddaughter Mireya Mitchell; mother Anne Henton Allen; sisters Dawna (Peter) Kroeker, Bernice Anderson and Janice (Al) Carriere.
She is predeceased by her father Ernest Henton and step-father Laurie Allen.
Colleen grew up in East St Paul and attended Kildonan East Collegiate. She met Garry Lang in 1978 and they immediately fell in love. They married in 1983 and had two children Janelle and Lucas. She was very close to her kids and enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter. She was an organizer of many gatherings and enjoyed her beer, cooking, shopping, entertaining, music and marathon dancing; she loved dancing the night away with Garry, listening to all of her favorite songs!
Colleen was a member of the Prince Edward Legion and the Club 60 A.N.A.F. She loved to help in the kitchen, serve, clean up but especially liked to look after her veterans expecting only a smile from a friend or stranger.
She especially liked to visit her friends, family and cousins in Elie, Gladstone, Neepawa, Kelwood and Riding Mountain. Once there she found it difficult to leave as family was number 1 to her.
Colleen went back to school and graduated with an accounting degree. She worked for The Government of Canada for Agriculture Canada as a Program Manager for 17 years until having to take a medical retirement due to her health.
Friends and relatives are encouraged to share in a eulogy, stories and condolences for the family by commenting on the right.
We would like to send a special thank-you to the 3rd floor staff at Riverview Health Center for taking care of my butterfly; for now she is soaring higher than the rest.
A celebration of Colleen’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2019 at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Crescent.
