MARGARET ELAINE "MAGGIE" LANGTON

July 31, 1938 – September 30, 2022

Maggie passed away Sept. 30 at Grace Hospital with family members at her side.

Maggie was predeceased by her parents Frank and Agnes, her siblings, Don, Linda and Marilyn and her son Robert. She leaves behind, her children, Ric (Debbie) Flett, Darrell Flett, Michael (Kseniya) Flett and Kristen Isfeld; her grandchildren, Meghan & Kaitlyn Flett, Olivia & Rhys Flett, Brenden Isfeld, Brie-Anne Bourcier and Kinzie Coughlan, and her great- grandchildren Tayvin, Easton, Emilia and Indie.

Maggie was born and raised in St. James.  Over the years, she worked at many jobs, the most recent for Child & Family Services from which retired in 2005.  She was a very compassionate person who always supported and fought for those less fortunate.

Her children meant everything to her.  She was fiercely proud of all of her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.  She was always happy to attend events and spend family time together.

Maggie was an athlete in her youth and enjoying watching sports right up until her final days.  In earlier years she attended her sons’ and grandkids’ sporting activities whenever she could, cheering them on.  But, basketball was her favourite game and the Toronto Raptors her favourite team.  She could name all the players and their stats and never missed a game on TV.  She was ecstatic when they won the NBA championship.

Maggie was a very strong and independent woman.  Unfortunately, health issues, which she had battled all of her life, finally became too much and she passed away of complications from COVID.

The family would like to thank her good friends Linda & Art and the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for all their support in this past year.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 22 from 1-3 p.m. at the West Kildonan Legion, Darlington Lounge, 1748 Main Street  All are welcome. In the meantime, Margaret’s family kindly requests that her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos and/or sharing your own memories and stories using the comment section on this page.

If anyone so desires, a contribution to any agency helping the underprivileged would carry on Maggie’s spirit.

Maggie and I met at the women’s shelter where we both worked. We became fast friends and learned we both lived in the North End and a block from each other. We spent long hours working together, visiting and at the beach sitting in the sun, talking and going to a couple of parties. We shared laughs, heartbreak and tears, bad times and good times. During the last couple years we had many laughs texting each other about our outrage over Trump and politics. I will miss Maggie so deeply. Love you and miss you my friend. 💖

Betty Andrews says she remembers going in the back of uncle Frank’s truck with all her siblings and Maggie’s siblings to go to the beach.

Ric and Deb the last time I came to the website I couldn’t get the video to play.  What a fantastic montage.   My memories of Maggie will be the passionate cheering at our girls basketball games for all those years. As you go into the festive season we know it may be a challenge.  I hope the memories will and to the support of family and friends Love Angela and Howard
