THOMAS BRIAN LAUZON

August 6, 1953 - February 7, 2022

Thomas Brian Lauzon passed away on February 7th, 2022, at the age of 68. He was born in Portage la Prairie & lived in Winnipeg, MB. After a short battle with cancer, his final days were spent at home surrounded by his family & his dogs.

He was predeceased by his parents, Tom & Betty Lauzon. Brian was the oldest of five children & is survived by his siblings Bill, Steve, Jeff & Sandra (Dianne.) He attended Westwood Collegiate & was always into fitness.

He worked 19 years as a bus driver for the City of Winnipeg having recently retired to his love of writing, drawing, & his wife Kerri. Brian loved animals. Once his wife found an injured baby bunny which he took in & nursed back to health.

When set free, Mrs. Bunny didn’t go far. She set up house in the backyard living under the raspberry bush. Each time Brian went outside, she’d come hopping over to say hi. Brian loved to travel, especially on cruise ships. He would get up early beforehand just to watch the ship pull into port & parallel park. Sunrises & sunsets on the cruise were magical. He’d listen to the waves & watch the stars at night while sitting on the balcony. It was something we continued to do when at home. Brian adored his little girl, a 6 pound yorkie named Miss E. After giving her a bath, he’d watch her race around the house, drying herself off. He would laugh so hard watching her. Hilarious.

He was an amazing writer & gifted artist. He poured his heart & soul into his artwork touching many people with his creations. He loved mentoring young artists. May he live on through this.

Special thanks to Rick & Carol MacKenzie for all your help. You brought strength & love. Thank you to Carlos who often stopped by with coffee. Brian is survived by wife & best friend, Kerri, his children Tawni, Kendyl, Joshua, Isaiah, Ariel, & daughter of his heart, Rebecca.

Please feel free to honour Brian by leaving your own memories on this page. A family service will be held in the summer of 2022

Rest In Peace Brian.  Free of pain.  The world has lost a very creative, intelligent and caring man.  Prayers and hugs to Kerri and her family.  May God hold you close and give you strength in the days and years ahead.

I don’t feel like I knew Brian that well, but what I noticed in the times we met was that he had a quiet dignity about him. Keri your heart is just so big and so beautiful and brave l know Brian was your soulmate. May the beautiful memories you created together always be in your heart. Portia London & Tanner, we love you.

What an amazing tribute to an amazing man. He was quiet, funny and so very talented.  He didn't just keep that talent to himself,he shared it with others. I remember him complimenting our granddaughter on her art and providing her with with the right tools as well. Kerri and Rebecca our hearts are broken for you both.  Brian has left a void in all our hearts.  May you be comforted by remembering what a truly wonderful man he was.

Wonderful tribute.  Sitting here remembering the lunch we had together, when our cruise ships docked in the same area.

Brian was a great writer, he wrote articles when he was newsletter Editor for PWP and the article that really sticks out with me was the one on the dash on a headstone. August 6, 1953 - February 7 2022 and I want to thank him for being a part of his dash THANKS Brian

Brian was such a trooper and he set a huge example for me when we were growing up.  When he and Joanne were together, he'd be up a 5am every morning - ten-speed bike ride to the gym for a 2 hr work out, then another bike tide home.  6 eggs in a blender for brekky then off to work for 10 hrs. before he was back at the gym for another 2 hrs. then home.  Dinner then a 5 mile jog completed his day.  He did this every single day.  You just can't compete with that kind of discipline.  And, gosh, he was a nice person.  He never fought or argued with anyone, probably because he was too busy with his art.  He owned this beige van that he painted the Hulk on with Indian Ink (using a projector) and it was so awesome.  I'm really going to miss him.  He was 5 years older than me and I thought he'd be around till he was at least 100.  But we all drifted apart and I've been pretty ill myself with COPD and Fibrosis of the Lungs these past few years.  God bless, Brian, you were literally the best brother anyone could ever have hoped to have!

Condolences from the Henderson side of the family. Only met him once (while a baby!) but his aunt, cousin, and cousin 1x removed are sad to hear of his untimely passing.

Came across a few pictures of the really early days. :) He was an awesome big brother. On his Christmas gift from me, the tag read "Brain." While everyone laughed, he gave that one sided small smile and said, "I kinda like it. Thanks."
