Alfred Lavoie

ALFRED EDWARD LAVOIE
June 29, 1936 – October 6, 2026
Peacefully, on October 6, 2026, Alfred Lavoie passed away at the Pinawa Hospital, with Linda and Susanne lovingly by his side.
Alfred was predeceased by his wife Helen, their son baby Lloyd, daughter Louise, and many close family and friends.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Linda (John) Tod, Susanne (Luc) Lansard, son Dennis (Gisèle) Lavoie along with his granddaughter Stephanie Lavoie, grandsons Christopher and Kenneth Lavoie, John (Danielle Buchanan) Hornsby, Justin and Patrick (Anny) Lansard, great granddaughters Jamie, Willow and great grandson Landen along with his sister Alice, many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Born in Lac du Bonnet, Alfred was 1 of 5 siblings. On October 6, 1956, he married the love of his life Helen (née Lussier). Together, they started their family in Lac du Bonnet before moving to Winnipeg to start Lavoie Brothers Backhoe Service with his brother, Raymond (Ellen). In retirement, Mom and Dad found joy travelling across Canada and the United States, making memories along the way. They enjoyed the open road, discovering new places and, most importantly, doing it together. During this time, Mom and Dad returned home to Lac du Bonnet. They lived a simple life, never needing much to be happy. Dad enjoyed camping, fishing, visiting and tinkering around in his shop as there was always something that needed fixing. Mom, on the other hand, loved to cook, bake, entertain and work in her garden.
Mom and Dad always looked forward to visits from the kids. There was always something special waiting for each of them - a favorite dessert, a fire to gather around, or an odd job that needed to be done with the tractor. And, of course, the tractor jobs always meant special rides for the little ones, who were happy to tag along.
Those simple moments were filled with love, laughter, and memories that the kids and grandchildren will carry with them forever.
Mom passed away on September 4, 2009 and after 17 years, Dad waited until the very day they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage; to join the woman he had loved for a lifetime. And so, in a beautiful and bittersweet full circle, they were reunited on the very day that marked the beginning of their life together 70 years ago. Together again, just as they were always meant to be.
Their absence will be deeply felt, but their love and stories will stay with us. Rest peacefully, Mom and Dad. You’ll always have a special place in our hearts.
An Interment will be held for Mom and Dad at the Lac du Bonnet Cemetery on October 26, 2026 at 1:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life at the Pioneer Club in Lac du Bonnet honoring Helen & Alfred Lavoie.
A special thank you to the nursing staff at the Pinawa Hospital for all their care and support for Dad and his family.

Please accept our condolences, sorry to hear of Alfreds passing. Although we never spend much time him, I always enjoyed his company. He'd tell me about the time he and Helen spent in the States, his children and his fishing trips. Always found him to be kind, gentle and soft spoken. Rest in peace Alfred.
