Joe LeBlanc

RONALD (JOE) JOSEPH LEBLANC
December 28, 1963 – May 7, 2026
It’s with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Joe (Joey) LeBlanc / Ronald Joseph LeBlanc… beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and a good friend to all who knew him. Joe passed away in Winnipeg Manitoba on May 7, 2026, at 62 years of age.
Joe’s formative years were spent in White Rock BC - until he moved to Toronto, and then started his adventures as a world traveller for over 10 years to many off-the-beaten-path destinations. He returned to White Rock for a while, and then settled in Winnipeg for the rest of his days.
In Winnipeg, Joe gravitated to heritage type homes - the last one he lived in was 102 years old, and he was restoring it by himself. Joey wrote short stories - collected old typewriters, and vintage cameras - and he had a particular love of collecting comics; often hanging out at his brother John’s comic book store, when he came back to visit.
Joe was a gentle and caring soul - and was comfortable living in a non-Internet world, living a minimalist lifestyle.
He enjoyed honest live conversations, looked after his flower garden, fixed up old bikes, and rode his motorcycle throughout Winnipeg. He was well known and loved in his neighbourhood - helping out as the neighborhood watch.
Joe is survived by his mother, Lucy LeBlanc; his brothers - Greg and wife Gisele, John and wife Heyin; nephew Gus; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Joe’s celebration of life will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28th, 2026 at the Bayside Rugby Clubhouse - 14600 - 20th Ave. White Rock, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joe’s name, to a charity of your choice.
It’s hard to believe that Joe is gone.
His gentle spirit will remain
in our hearts forever.

Sorry I couldn't make this funeral. I knew Joe Leblanc from years past. My memories of him being over at our house in Edmonton, AB, and also walking in Whiterock BC. I know he liked travelling, especially Peru, South America. Great sadness in hearing the manner of his death. Joe know when you enter heaven that we will be wishing you were here with us. Stay here with us in all the memories that you made.
Rest in Peace!!
Your cousin,
Christina Kitsco

Joey travelled out to our acreage near Pigeon Lake a couple of summers ago, I vividly remember walking with Joey through an adjacent acreage we owned at the time and it was evident from Joey's quiet manner that he really enjoyed this walk in the woods, past a small stream and fallen trees. Perhaps it was Joey's unspoken demeanor at the time that left an imprint of a kind and gentle soul. It was a pleasant few moments in the woods, as Poet Robert Frost wrote in his poem...'These woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep...."
You are not forgotten Ronald Joe Leblanc and may you walk the heavenly woods now that you have crossed to the other side....

My cousin Joey was 12 years old when I was born. We're both rabbits according to the Chinese Zodiac, considered gentle natured and keen. I didn't often get to see Joey through my life, but I did get to see him one year when I was visiting from Japan, long ago, when I was in my 20s.. I think Joey was already living in Winnipeg but visiting his parents (my Uncle Joe was still alive at that time) and brothers. We walked down to the ocean together from his parents (my Auntie Lucy and Uncle Joe's) house. I remember that time oddly clearly, and I remember many things about Joey, that he was a vegetarian, that he loved old fashioned typewriters, and that he was a writer (my other cousin, his younger brother John, told me about that part). I have a blanket from Peru that my Auntie Lucy gave me, that came from Joey. It's in my house to this day. Joey loved South America, I recall. I remember Joey as being authentically himself and living the life he wanted by his terms, which is a pretty incredible and admirable thing. He left a legacy that all who knew him will remember. I think he had a thing or to to teach us all about living a life true to one's self.
My deepest condolences go out to my Auntie Lucy, Joey's mom, and to my other cousins (his brothers) Greg and John. It is so hard for everyone who knew Joey to say goodbye to him, such a good man, such a gentle and kind soul. I really cannot believe that he is gone, that I couldn't have another conversation with him while walking down to the ocean, that his spirit has moved on, but I hope that all of those who remember him will think of him often, especially when they see an old-fashioned typewriter, I'll miss you Joey. I hope your spirit is at peace.
