Steven Lidster

STEVEN LIDSTER
December 2, 1974 – October 19, 2025
The world got a little quieter on Sunday October 19th, 2025, when Steven Lance Lidster, 50, of Brandon, Manitoba, left us suddenly and far too soon.
Steven was born on December 2nd, 1974 in Swan River MB, to parents Dale and Judy Lidster, and big sister Pamela.
In those early years he had a love of riding in front of his sister while she drove the 3 wheeler in the field across the road. Even when blisters formed on his hands, he refused to let them slow him down — he always got right back on.
In 1978, his family moved to Brandon MB. Steven attended Linden Lanes Elementary then Vincent Massey High School.
As a kid, Steven tried out soccer and baseball, but hockey was what he continued throughout his youth, playing on many teams. During those years in sports and school, many lifelong friends were made.
Growing up, Steven discovered his lifelong passion for fishing and duck hunting — a love that stayed with him right up until he passed. Countless weekends were spent scouting ducks, planning hunts, and sitting in the blinds with his dad, Uncle Lance, cousin Laird, and many friends and family. Those days were among his most cherished.
In 1994 he met the love of his life, Tania Borton, while working together at Brandon Telephone Answering Service. They welcomed their son Wade Steven on September 21st, 1996, and their daughter Daylyn Jane October 1st, 2001. He was very proud of his children.
Steven worked many odd jobs growing up, but in January 1996, Steven embarked on his lifelong career in the alarm industry, with Alarm All. He moved through the sale of the company to MTS, then to Bell. He was just getting ready to move to the next, but that wasn’t meant to be. He made so many acquaintances and friends during his alarm career.
Steven spent many days watching sports with Tania, and was a dedicated Winnipeg Blue Bombers and a Winnipeg Jets fan.
In July 2018 he was determined he wanted a LAB dog, but instead got a lap dog Bynx. They spent a lot of time cuddling and bonding over shared meat.
Steven’s spirit lives on through his wife Tania; son Wade (Onix Collette); daughter Daylyn (Rylan Bower); his parents, Dale and Judy; and sister Pamela (Kelly Willemen). He will be missed deeply by his parents in law Doug Borton (Cherie), Karen Johnston (Vern Leckie), Candice (Ross Gray). As well as Brother in law Rhett Borton; and Sister in law Fallon (Dave Stokell).
Steven was a proud Uncle to Jarrod Bailey, Kathryn Bailey (Suniel Peirson), as well as Nixon and Max Stokell.
He will be missed by grand puppy Bynx.
Steven also leaves behind Uncles, Aunts, Cousins who were friends and friends who were like family.
His circle was wide.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honour at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday November 15th, 2025, in the Imperial Ballroom at the Victoria Inn in Brandon. In keeping with Steven’s spirit, casual attire is welcome. Please bring your stories, your laughter, and your memories to share.
In lieu of flowers, take a moment to lend someone a hand or do something kind in Steven’s memory. That’s how he lived his life and that’s how he’d want to be remembered.

So very sorry for your loss. We will miss running into Steven on the dock at Clear Lake for summers to come. Thankfully we have many photos of Steven "hanging" with our family on the memory wall at the cottage - he will be fondly remembered by our entire family.

I'm just a kid from the Linden Lanes Neighborhood. Steven always had a smile. Enjoyed our banter when he stopped in to fix our issues at George Fitton. Steve, your missed. Your spirit inspires. Thank you.

With Dale, Lance, Laird and my son Ryan I spent many days duck hunting with Steven. To say we had a blast would be an understatement. Some of the best days of my life and his as well. I will miss those great times. Our sincere condolences.
