PATRICIA JOAN LINNEMANN

(NÉE HARRISON)

July 23, 1957 – July 15, 2025

On July 15, 2025, Patty passed away peacefully surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with colon cancer.

Patty will be deeply missed by her husband Bernhard; children, Emily (Paul) and Natalie (Dillon); grandchildren, Charlotte and James; sister Ann; and brother David (Christina); in-laws, Vera (Gord), and Michael (Marion); and her many nieces and nephews. Patty was predeceased by her father and mother (James and Catherine); her brother Robert; her father and mother in-law, (Harald and Gertrud); and her brother in-law Joachim.

Patty was born on July 23, 1957, and spent her early years living in Winnipeg, Kingston, Jamaica (1963) and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She attended elementary school at Robert H. Smith and Queenston School, junior high at River Heights School and grade 10 at Kelvin High School and had fond memories of her time living on Ash and Niagara Street. She spent her later teenage years in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, attending Prince Andrew High School for grades 11 and 12. She also attended Dalhousie University in 1975 on a scholarship.

In 1977 Patty met Bernie, fell in love and moved to Winnipeg. They were married on June 3, 1978 at St. Aidan’s Anglican Church. Over the years they welcomed two daughters, Emily and Natalie, and made many happy memories at their home in Crescentwood. Patty was a devoted wife to Bernie, and a loving mum and grammy who adored time spent with her darling ‘duckies’.

Patty was an avid reader, a talented seamstress and quilter, a crossword and sudoku puzzle enthusiast. She was very creative, skilled at both drawing and writing. She was passionate about family history and genealogy and was the go-to person for family lore. She thoroughly enjoyed music, particularly Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, and The Beatles. She loved shopping trips with her girls and was thrilled by a good bargain. She had an amazing albeit sarcastic wit, which she maintained until the end.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and health care team at Riverview Health Centre for caring for Patty in her final weeks.

A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at St. Aidan’s Anglican Church, 274 Campbell Street in Winnipeg.

Patty’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
