JOYCE MARGARET
ANNA LITTLE

(née BELL)

July 24, 1933 - April 25, 2022

Joyce Little passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Monday April 25, 2022 at Carman Memorial Hospital, with her loving son by her side.

Joyce was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on July 24, 1933, and was raised in Headingley, Manitoba where she also attended school. She met her husband-to-be, Earl Little, in 1950 and they were married June 4, 1955. They build their house in Joyce’s hometown of Headingley where they raised six sons. Being a mom was Joyce’s favourite “job”. Her boys were her life, always. Prior to her life-long career as a mother she worked at Eatons Downtown out of school and then the Headingley Post Office briefly.

Joyce had the most welcoming smile; she never met a stranger. Friends with everyone, loved by all. She lived a full life packed with activities and adventures; summers at The Narrows fishing, winters in Phoenix, crafting, curling, knitting, baking, bowling, and bingo to name a few.

Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Gord (Donna), Gary (Doreen), Brian (Jan), Ross (Cheryl), Brad (Linda), and Dave; grandchildren, Dallas (Lynnea), Alissa, Blair (Gail), Melissa (Hector), Wade (Molly), Derek (Kelsey), Brent (Candace), Christina (Cam), Tawny (Anthony), and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Kinsey, Izayah, Havier, Kruze, Bobby, Tommy, Hank, Elizabeth, Emilie, Elise, Evangaline, Rhiannon, Stella, Emmet, and Lux.

She was predeceased by husband Earl; parents Gordon and Hilda Bell; brother Jack; and sister Pat.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Carman Memorial Hospital and Homecare Services for the care and compassion shown to Joyce.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association.

Joyce’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

What a beautiful video of your mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  You can see the love, happiness and proudness she had for her family. I remember sharing a piece of her delicious homemade pie with her and my dad, Phil Craig. A beautiful lady. Always greeted me with a smile and welcomed me into her home.   My deepest condolences and love are with you all. ❤️

Joyce was the most loving, amazing women that I have met. Her and I would would always sit down and she would tell me stories about her travels and all her grandchildren and the joy that her family brought her. She loves all her kids so much and honestly thought the world of them. I will forever remember what she has taught me and the wisdom this lady had to share . Joyce you are with the angels and husband now ❤️I will always miss our morning chats/evening chats ! You were truly a beautiful sole .

Joyce and Earl camped at The Narrows for many years, and we became fast friends.  I have many fond memories of Joyce and Earl. My husband Peter and I did not take many vactions, 3 in 27 years, 2 with Joyce and Earl. That should attest to her powers of persuasion. They were so hospitable, so out going and just overall good people. We so appreciated all that they did for us. We so enjoyed our time with them. So wish we had pictures. Peter driving the 3 wheeler, towing Earl and the boys in the trailer to  sitting on thier chairs and us women off to Bingo. Earl and Joyce up to their elbows in minnows. Joyce making her delicious pies, I couldn't make one for the life of me. The Austin Thrasher men's reunion, the one time Peter and I actually stayed in a camper. Oh there are so many fond memories. I had the great privilege of meeting this amazing woman when I was a young child. Joyce and Earl camped at my parent's at The Narrows for many summers. My memories of Joyce are those of pure joyful energy. Oh her laugh! Bingo, coffee time (her french fry time) and playing in the kitchen with the ladies. Her pies! Oh my. Earl with the boys, packaging minnows and their nightly card games in the quonset. My dad would blow his air horn and the boys were on their way for cards. I still have the outfit Joyce made for my daughter when she was born, a sweater, cap and booties. A forever keepsake. I will be forever grateful for these amazing memories. ❤
