MARLENE LITTLE

August 11, 1938 - January 15, 2021

After a long battle with cancer Marlene Little, born 11 August 1938 in Grangemouth Scotland passed away peacefully on January 15th. She will be greatly missed by her husband Jim of 61 years; her children, Bob (Sandra), June (Brent), and Fiona (Bill); 8 grandchildren, Shannon, Nolan, Melissa, Andrew, Chelsea, Devon, Tyler and Caelen; and 2 great grandsons, Joshua and Colton. She is also survived by her younger brother Alex Martin (Marita) of Barrie Ontario; sister in-law Margaret Martin of Falkirk Scotland; and several nieces and nephews in Scotland and Ontario.

In 1947, after her mum passed away, she was adopted by her Aunt Peggy & Uncle Willie; and moved to Edinburgh where she stayed before coming to Winnipeg with the family in 1969.

She worked for Silverwoods Dairies in the accounts department for 18 years. Her desire to help others led her to volunteer for several years at the Victoria General hospital. Marlene enjoyed cooking and baking; her trifle was the highlight at family parties.

Many fond memories with family and friends were made over the years at the lake. Whether planting flowers, watching birds or feeding squirrels, the simple joy that Marlene found in her love of nature will be remembered and treasured by us all.

The family would like thank the many friends for their kind thoughts and condolences. We also thank the staff at Riverview Hospital and Grace Hospital Hospice for their exceptional care and support over the past few months.

Cremation has already taken place and her ashes will be going to Scotland when things return to normal. In the meantime, Marlene’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. They also encourage the sharing of photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

Condolences to the whole family from Shelley and I.  Marlene was a special lady - one of my favourites of all the "pipe band ladies".  Always with a warm hello and how's the family. I really enjoyed the slide show / presentation here - probably the saddest version of The Dark Isle - but beautiful.

My sincere condolences to you Jim and your family. I too, worked at Silverwood Dairies originally which later changed through buyouts etc to Ault , Manco, Saskatchewan Co-op. As a fellow employee  I worked with Marlene for her entire time with the dairy industry. It was a great pleasure to have known her as a person and a dedicated employee. .
