MARY “ROSE” JOSEPHINE ROSALIN LOEWEN

(née Lavallée)

October 12, 1954 – May 31, 2025

With deep sadness, the family announces the passing of Rose Loewen on May 31, 2025.

Rose was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Juliette Lavallée; and siblings, Michel Lavallée and Bernadette Lavallée. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Juliette Romanoff; her granddaughter Scarlett Winter Rose; and her siblings: Elaine Lavallée, Adrian Lavallée, Gisele Saltise, Raymond (Doris) Lavallée, Marcel (Roberta) Lavallée, Louise (Jim) Nesbit, Marielle Ranville, and Rachelle Lavallée. Rose also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss her deeply.

Rose dedicated much of her life to service, building a long career with Canadian Border Services and volunteering with the Manitoba Metis Federation. In retirement, she found a new calling in fostering youth, offering a warm and supportive home to those in need.

Rose was known for her generous spirit and unwavering hospitality. Her home was always open—especially around the dinner table, where family gathered often to enjoy her lasagna and apple pie.

Her legacy is one of joy, strength, and love for family. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Rose's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg located at 603 Wellington Crescent.

Rose’ family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
