In Loving Memory of
ELINORE ROSEMARIE LOOS

Peacefully, with her family by her side, Elinore Rosemarie Loos went to be with her Lord and Saviour on May 26, 2026, at the age of 85.

Elinore’s smile could light up a room. She loved to laugh, she loved to dance, and she loved spending time with family and friends. Above all else, she loved her husband of 67 years, Doug, the love of her life and her greatest blessing.

Elinore was born on September 17, 1940, to August and Elinore Laudinsky. In 1956, she met Doug at the Glendale Restaurant. Doug fell in love with her beautiful smile, and Elinore was drawn to his striking blue eyes. What began as a young romance grew into a lifelong love story filled with devotion, friendship, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Together they built a life centered around faith, family, and love.

Eager to start a family of their own, Elinore and Doug were blessed with three daughters: Deb Bazylewski (Gerald), Cheryl Jeffery (Bob), and Shelley Glowa (Richard). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Ryan (Kerri), Candace (Landon), Kyle (Courtney), Vanessa (Buddy), and Matt (Ashley). Her greatest joy was becoming Nana to her cherished great-grandchildren: Davin, Lacey-Lynn, George Douglas, Kade, Willa, Hayes, Zach, and Beckett, with two more precious great-grandchildren on the way. Throughout the years Elinore was always very supportive of all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all of their sports, activities and interests.

Elinore is also lovingly remembered by her sisters Ruth (Barney) and Gloria (Dennis), brother-in-law Warren (Gail), and her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and the countless friends she welcomed into her life as family. To know Elinore was to feel loved, included, and cared for.

One of Elinore and Doug’s greatest joys was dancing through life together. Alongside their dear lifelong friends, Dan and Helen Fraser, they shared countless memories, laughter, and friendships through their years as members of the East Kildonan Dance Club. Dancing wasn’t simply a hobby—it was a reflection of the joy with which Elinore lived her life.

A woman of deep faith, Elinore was a proud and active lifetime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Over the years, she faithfully served on the church board and was an active member of the Ladies Aid. Her faith guided her throughout her life and was reflected in her kindness, generosity, and servant’s heart.

Elinore was especially proud of earning her Highschool diploma and completing secretarial school at the age of 17. She began her career at H.P. Penhock on Higgins Avenue before embracing her most cherished role—being a mother. After spending a few years at home raising her daughters, she returned to the workforce, eventually building a successful career of more than 20 years at the University of Winnipeg. Following retirement, she and Doug enjoyed many wonderful winters together in Palm Springs, California, creating treasured memories and lasting friendships.

In their early years, Elinore and Doug loved taking their family camping. Later, they fell in love with their cottage at Deception Lake—a place that became their legacy. More than a cottage, it was a gathering place filled with love, laughter, stories, and generations of memories. Family and friends were always welcome.

Elinore had a gift for bringing people together. Whether hosting at home, at the lake, or in Palm Springs, she poured her heart into every gathering. There was always plenty of food, endless laughter, and room for one more at the table. She made holidays special, celebrations unforgettable, and ordinary days feel meaningful. Her home was filled with warmth, and her family always knew they were loved.

Of all her accomplishments, the role she treasured most was that of wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her family was her heart. She celebrated every milestone, offered comfort through every hardship, and gave her love freely and abundantly. The lessons she taught through her example—kindness, generosity, faith, resilience, and unconditional love—will continue to live on in all who knew her.

Elinore was predeceased by her parents, August and Elinore Laudinsky; her parents-in-law; and her sister-in-law.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace and reunited with those who have gone before her. We will miss her beautiful smile, her laughter, her wisdom, her welcoming spirit, and the way she made each of us feel special and deeply loved.

Her life was a blessing, 

her love was a gift, 

and her memory will be 

treasured forever.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church located at 708 McCalman Ave.
