JUDITH "JUDI" LUTMAN

(née Dack)

March 22, 1953- April 27, 2019

It is with immense sadness that we must announce that our beloved wife, cherished mother, admired Nana, and supportive sister, Judi, passed away on April 27, 2019.

Judi is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years, Howard, as well as by her daughters Tara (Bobby) and Amanda (Ryan); brothers Jon (Judy), Kevin, and Dennis (Karen) will miss their sister who had become the matriarch of our family. She will be fondly remembered by sister in law Kathy (Winston); nieces Jessica, Sarah, Erin, Kendra, and Caroline will miss their “AJ”, Nieces Kathleen and Karen will miss their aunt; as will nephews Jeffrey, Justin (Monica), James, and great nephews Logan and William. Nana will be forever missed by her grandchildren Zachary and Emily. Judi was predeceased by her parents – father, John in 1972, mother Stephanie in 2005; older sister, Gail, in 2014, and brother in law Gordon, in 2018. She also leaves behind her cherished cats, Poppy and Rocky.

Judi was born in London, Ontario and relocated often due to her father being in the military. Winnipeg became her permanent home in 1968. Her career with Special Material Services, a department within Manitoba Education, spanned 30 years. Even in retirement she would double check Braille in public places for accuracy.

Since retiring in 2014, her primary focus was healthy living and family. Judi was a member of Anytime Fitness (Lindenwoods) and made great, lasting friendships there. If she was not at the gym, you could likely find her shopping – she was forever buying some little treat for one of us. Time spent with her grandchildren was treasured by Nana, Zachary, and Emily. Sleepovers at Nana and Grampa’s had become especially popular with Emily this past year, often lasting days. Nana was like a second mom to Zach and he will miss her dearly.

Summers were spent together at the lake enjoying family dinners and carefree days. Mom and Amanda participated in a weekly fitness class in town, and Mom and Tara spent hours creating and crafting together and memories of markets and sales will be forever cherished.

Judi was smart, creative, stylish, detail oriented, hilarious, and kind. She fit in everywhere she went and we were always so proud to introduce this amazing woman as our mother or wife. As per her wishes, no formal service will take place. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.

Our mother did not like the idea of goodbyes. So instead we will say goodnight to the most wonderful woman any of us have ever known. You will be missed beyond measure and are loved more than words. As you and Emily always said to each other “I love you forever and a day.”

Judi's family kindly requests that her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos and/or sharing your own memories and stories using the comment section on this page.
