OREST LYSAK
January 5, 1942 – June 23, 2026
Orest Lysak, 84, of Winnipeg passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026. He was born on January 5, 1942, on a farm in Hazel Dell, Saskatchewan.
He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Justina; his brothers, Walter, Michael, Morris, and John; and his sister Pauline.
Orest is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Ron); his son, Jeff; his grandson, Austin; and his partner of 41 years, Donna Martin, along with her daughter, Denise (Gord), and granddaughters, Emma and Anna.
He is also survived by his sisters, Emily, Ann, and Sonya, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In 1970, Orest completed a four-year electrical apprenticeship at Red River College. He worked for many years with Winnipeg School Division No. 1 before retiring in 2005.
Orest was a hard worker and lived a frugal life. He loved the outdoors and had a deep respect for the environment. He cared deeply for his loved ones and always made sure they were well cared for. He spent many happy times at Libau, Belair, and the Narrows. He especially enjoyed family gatherings, camping, fishing, and gardening.
Orest was a deeply spiritual man and an active parishioner at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. He generously volunteered many hours checking the candles and preparing the bread for communion.
In memory of Orest, donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
The family would like to thank the palliative care team and the staff at Riverview Health Center for their excellent care and compassion.
The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion Street. Father Darren Kawiuk will officiate. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Cemetary, 455 Lagimodiere Boulevard.
The funeral service will be live on the church's Facebook page as well as their YouTube channel.

Orest was a great neighbour, he minded his business as I see him in his yard puttering around planting his flowers or replacing the old ones. He use to come over sit down and chit chat about life I new him for 28 years as a neighbour he was quite a gentleman. I am sure going to miss that man across my street. I hope he said hi to my husband as he knew him very well Go rest my friend I will see you on the other side one day ❤️✌️
