KENNETH JAMES MACDONALD

1963 - 2022

After a lengthy illness, Kenneth James MacDonald was mercifully released from his suffering and pain on Thursday, September 29, 2022.  Ken will be very sadly missed by his longtime partner Ann-Marie Thomson and by his siblings Brian (Valerie), Heather (Craig) and Colin (Glenda), along with several nieces and nephews.

Ken was born on January 20, 1963 to Norman and Eileen MacDonald. He grew up in St. Vital and lived in that area for most of his life. Ken worked for many years for the Red River Exhibition and Burns Meats and spent the last few years working in northern Manitoba on the Keeyask Hydro Dam project.

Some of the most special times for Ken were spent at his cabin in Grand Marais, where he was surrounded by his family and many friends. In the last several years Ken also looked forward to his annual trip to Puerto Vallarta with his beach friends.

“Every life is noted and is cherished, and nothing is ever lost or perished.”

Ken’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shrine Patient Transportation Fund, 1155 Wilkes Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3P 1B9

A celebration of Ken’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Fort Rouge Legion, 426 Osborne St., Winnipeg

My family has known Kenny since he was a very young lad. As lake neighbors, all the kids in both families spent our summers together. Kenny and my brother John were inseparable then and for many years thereafter. In recent years Kenny kept an eye on all the goings on at the lake for us. He was especially kind to my Dad and all my family always offering a helping hand. Kenny was a kind, gentle soul and we will very much miss his friendly presence.  My condolences to all the family.
