MARILYN MACIEJKOW-BAKARE

June 1, 1962 - February 26, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Maciejkow-Bakare at the age of 63 years old. With her family by her by side she passed peacefully on February 26, 2026.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter Christina (Rob); her grandchildren, Rayne and Lilly (Ryan); her sister Cathy and her brother Tim (louise); along with her many nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Shelly and Kyle for all you did for Marilyn throughout the years.

Marilyn lived a long happy life as a HCA and loved helping people throughout the community. She enjoyed meeting new people, dinners with family, and adventures wherever they would take her! She loved spending time with her grandchildren and many in-person and FaceTime visits with both of them. The endless hours of laughs and chats will greatly be missed.

Marilyn fought a long hard battle with cancer and is now pain-free and resting easy. Mom always was the person you could call when you needed advice or just someone to talk to, she would be judgment free and have something to help with when you needed someone.

You are now pain free

and are watching over us,

forever in our hearts.

The family would like to extend our thanks to the WRHA Palliative care team and the Palliative Care team at St. Boniface hospital, that made the last few days as easy as possible.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Never Alone Foundation, or Cancer Care Manitoba.

As per her request cremation will take place and no funeral service is planned. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at 38-B Springwood Drive.

“Don’t cry because it’s over,

smile because it happened.”

Rest easy mom.

I will miss you!

So sorry to hear that Marilyn has passed. I'm friends with her sister Cathy (Cath) and I've honestly not seen her since she was around 20 years old when we got a ride home from her. I remember her at her home though and all I think of when I think of her is her huge laugh you could hear throughout the house and her smiling face. I'm sorry that you had to battle that awful disease, Cancer but now you are free and laughing even louder up there with your mom and dad and Auntie in heaven. Prayers to all of her family that they find peace with this great loss. God Bless. ❤️❤️🌈🌈
