RODERICK (RODDIE) JAMES MACNEIL
April 21, 1954 - October 8, 2026
It is with profound sadness to announce the sudden passing of our beloved Roddie.
Left to cherish his memory are his partner, Paula (with daughters Colette [Darcey] & Stacey; granddaughters Madisen & Olivia; great-grandson Levi), siblings Jackie, Tipton (Irena), Connie (Eric), and many other family members. Roddie was predeceased by his parents Danny & Kaye, brother Dan E., and sister-in-law Donna.
Roddie was one of six siblings, growing up in Iona, Nova Scotia, briefly moving to Ontario then settling down in Winnipeg where he met his life partner, Paula, in the late 1980s. Roddie always had a fondness for cars, spending time working on them in his younger years which continued as a hobby though out his life. Car show in town? You can be sure that Roddie was there! He would also never miss a Barra MacNeils Christmas concert when they were in town! Roddie’s bonus daughters and granddaughters appreciated his love of this music, but never did quite get into cars!
Anyone who knows Roddie knows that he was filled with strength, had a heart of gold, and fought hard to stay on this earth to be with his family. Over the years, he defied medical odds and the prognosis of numerous doctors whose only explanation for how he survived catastrophic injuries (on more than one occasion) was that he had the will to live. And he truly did. He let nothing stand in his way.
He was the bonus Dad and Grandpa who would be there in a second to help. To fix. To drive. To talk. To babysit, dog or cat-sit. He was present — always.
“Love you. Bye for now”
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the St Boniface Hospital Foundation (Cardiac Care) or Heart & Stroke Foundation (Manitoba) in Roddie’s name.
A private celebration of life and inurnment will occur at Glen Lawn Cemetery at a later date.

Our heartfelt condolences on the sudden passing of Roddie, a kind soul and devoted family man. Jackie will deeply miss their frequent and cherished phone calls. Raised by wonderful, salt of the earth parents, Kay and Danny, Roddie carried the love and values of his upbringing in his heart throughout his life. Our precious Donna always spoke so fondly of her and Jack's visits with Paula and Roddie. With love and sympathy to Paula, Colette, Stacey, Jack and all the MacNeil family.
