It is with heavy hearts that Norm’s family announces his peaceful passing at Poeidon Personal Care home, in the late afternoon of Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the age of 82.
Norm was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 15, 1942, and was the second born son to Magnus (Mike) and Doris Magnusson.
Norm leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of almost 61 years, Carole Delene (Dee); son, Darren; daughters, Marnie (Kevin) and Maggie (Glen); grandchildren, Nicole, Matt, Madison and Gabe; Brothers, Alan, Tom (Linda), Brian (Kathy); and sister, Sandra (Stacy); and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Norm’s career as a Registered Industrial and Cost Accountant included time spent with United Grain Growers, Investors Syndicate Ltd., Air Canada, International Harvester and Supercrete Concrete.
For several years, both Norm and Dee served as parent volunteers with the Society of Manitobans with Disabilities and the Manitoba Wheelchair Sports Association.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Poseidon Personal Care Home, for the care given to Norm and to his family during his time there.
There is no formal service planned. Norm’s family requests that friends and relatives spend a few minutes in remembrance on October 15th, the date that would have marked Norm’s 83rd birthday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SPIKE Inc. provider of Residential Supported Living and Quality Day programming for people with physical and intellectual disabilities.
Norm's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Although I may have lost touch with Norm, Dee, Darren, Marnie and Maggie since his Uncle Ray passed away; you have always been rememberd. Norm seemed to exude a joy for life, always with a twinkle in his eye, and a fun loving nature. He made the world a better place. My sincerest condolences to Dee and family. May you rest in peace.

When I served as minister at Donnelly United church, from 1981-94, Norm and his family were a vital and caring part of the congregation. Norm was a person of integrity, compassion, faith and love. A high for me in our thirteen years together was Norm and Dee's son Darren leading us up the new ramp into the church to make the place more inclusive and welcoming. Norm was a blessing for which I am grateful.

I was very saddened when I was informed of Norm's recent passing and my heart goes out to all of his family and friends. Norm was a member of our "school gang and beyond" and my mind is flooded with fun memories. I moved away from Winnipeg back in 1967 and havent been back in a long time, having lived in Edmonton since 1989. Unfortunately good friends lose touch over time. However, good friends like Norm, come to my mind every now and then, wondering how and what everyone and their families is doing. I am in the 83 yr old age range as well and often look back and think about the good times with friends and family and think about how quickly the years have gone and how fortunate I was to have a good friend like Norm.
I send my love to Dee and all of the Magnusson family.
Sincerely,
Brad

To Dee and the entire Magnusson family - sending my condolences to you on the passing of Norm. He was a dear friend to me when I was going through a rough patch in life, and always had words of advice and the ability to not only listen, but to "hear" what I was trying to say. He will be very missed by so many.

Today, my heart is heavy as I say goodbye to one of the most important people in my life—my grandpa.
He was more than just a grandfather. He was a storyteller, a teacher, a quiet protector, and someone who always made time to listen. Whether it was his warm hugs, his quiet wisdom, or the way he made everyone feel at home, Grandpa had a way of making life feel a little more steady, even when things were hard.
I’ll always remember [insert a memory here, like “sitting with him on the porch while he told me stories from his childhood” or “how he’d never let us leave without sneaking us a few dollars and a smile
It hurts to know I won’t hear his laugh again or see him in his favorite chair, but I know that everything he taught me—about patience, strength, and love—will always be with me.
Rest easy, Grandpa. I’ll miss you forever, but I’ll carry you with me always.

Please accept the condolences of Oweeny and I during this difficult time. We have fond memories of Uncle Norm - from when I arrived in Winnipeg as a teenager, and when we both lived together in the city. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, and for his dedication and care for his family. May he rest in peace.

Dad,
My dad (Norm), had a smile that would make anyone feel welcomed, he also had a heart of gold, and he would help anyone who needed his help. I can still hear his voice telling me , I would be his baby girl forever. My brother and I loved spending time with my dad and mom, there is just so many beautiful memories. You were the best dad ever, the most loveable grandpa to my children, you will be missed dad, but you will never be forgotten. Love you forever Dad.

Norm was the best grandpa I could've asked for. I'll never forget all the memories we shared from spending every holiday and birthday together, to learning how to swim in his backyard, to spending those last few years visiting him and still getting to hear him say "my beautiful girls" when he looked at me and Maddie. I love you grandpa, and will carry you with me for the rest of my life ❤️

A sweet man, who always had a story for me and could always make me laugh. The photo that we chose for this tribute, is perfect....the slightly impish grin and sparkling eyes....that's the way I will remember Norm.
