MICHAEL "MIKE" WILLIAM MANDZIK

July 9, 1930 – February 7, 2025

Mike passed away peacefully On Friday, February 7, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Residence.

Mike will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 54 years, Bernice, his son Mark and honorary daughter Pina, and grandsons Bauer and Parker, along with his nephews Ron Mykytyn, Adam Rogers (Melissa), John Kruch (Joan), niece Judy Worthington (Ron), and his brother-in-law Alvin Rogers.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Jadwiga Mandzik, sisters Mary Mykytyn (Bill), and Joan Rogers.

Mike worked for the CN railway before beginning his career as an Excise Officer and Auditor at Revenue Canada that lasted for over 35 years.

He was a faithful member of St. John Cantius church and served the Knights of Columbus for over 40 years in various capacities including financial secretary for 12 years.

Mike was a loyal, devoted, and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing, and camping. In his later years he enjoyed his vacation homes in Gimli Manitoba and Chixculub Mexico, where many wonderful times were had with family and close friends. After retirement, Mike enjoyed playing cribbage and traveling on casino trips with the St. John Cantius Seniors Club.

Mike suffered with cyclical depression over the years, and the COVID pandemic added extensive anxiety to his condition that unfortunately persisted until his passing.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mike’s caregivers at the Victoria General Hospital, Oakview Place, and St. Joseph’s Residence for looking after him during his final days.

Donations to your charity of choice are encouraged and appreciated.

For Mike, we believe that life has changed, not ended, and while we will miss him dearly, we take comfort in reliving our wonderful memories of him, and in knowing that he is now, finally at peace.

Dear Mark, Pina , Bauer , Parker and Bernice,

Our deepest sympathies to all of you and we wish you comfort and peace now and always. We are so very sorry for your loss. Mike's smile and sence of humour was always so endearing, and he took the time to say hello to us and show interest in our lives. We have known Mike for over 35 years, and we know he will surely be missed,

Sheila and Rene Roy
