DAVID JAMES MARKS

December 13, 1964 – December 18, 2022

It is with deep sadness we announce that David James Marks has passed away on December 18, 2022 at the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 58.

He has been united with his mother, Nettie; brothers, Robert, Danny, and Sean; nephew Damien; and brother-in-law Earl.

He leaves to mourn his father, Robert; son Matthew; brothers, Bryan (Cheryl), Richard (Susanne), William (Sheri), and Greg (Nicole); sisters, Kathleen, Patricia and Sharon; uncle Ellis (Frankie); nephews, Shane, Karl (Sarah), Bryce, RJ, Patrick, Jesse, Dylan, and Brenden; nieces, Bryanna, Caitlan, Kyra, Jaidia, and Sadie; great nieces, Olivia and Heidi; great nephew Hendrik; as well as many cousins in Winnipeg, Ontario and New Brunswick.

I would like to thank Jeff Kendel for his support given to David during his life. You were always there for him.

We would like to thank the staff at the Concordia Hospital 3rd floor for the care given during his most difficult days.

David was born on December 13, 1964 to Robert and Nettie Marks, he was a funny, helpful and loving man.

David worked at Kendel Shell his entire life, he first pumped gas then went on to become a mechanic. He had a passion for cars and it showed in his knowledge and dedication to his profession. Known as Super Dave by many. We are left to the mercy of the unknown as to where and who to ask why my car is making this sound and acting this way or that. He always knew how to fix it.

David loved hockey and his knowledge was deep. He knew every statistic in the NHL, any player, any team, Montreal Canadians was his favourite team. He was also a Winnipeg Blue Bomber fan. His love of sponge hockey, played with his brothers, is something he held close to his heart. Fishing and playing x- Box Hockey and Tiger Woods golf his endless tournaments he had to win.

Kyra shared a special bond with Uncle Dave, he was her favourite Uncle, the jokester, the prankster, the fun uncle. He was also, loving, caring, kind hearted, generous and giving. He would call my house as the telemarketer or delivery man, even called just to find out what kind of noodles I liked. Will always remember him telling us about the flip phone from the future and his rapper name: two dimes and a nickel.

We may have lost our Super Dave but heaven has gained an Angel. She will, as we all will, cherish the memories you gave us.

At David's request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers please feel free to make a donation in David's name with Cancer Care or organisation of your choice.

David there are no words to express how difficult it is to have lost you to this horrible disease Cancer. You fought hard, but it was harder to watch you suffer so. My boys are missing their Uncle Dave so much it pains me. You were always there for them when they needed your help with their cars. You taught them so much as well. You were there for me when I needed you too and I thank you for that. Rest well my brother you truly deserve it. We miss you 😢 more than you’ll ever know. Love you ❤🥰

David was my best employee ever and I have had many many employees over the last 48 years . I could ALWAYS trust Dave to take of our customers when Lynn and I took some time off . David learned his trade while working at our shop and became a  very skilled mechanic.

Uncle Dave! One of a kind, you were. You had an entire language all your own and made others laugh all the time, which is good for the soul. In my mind’s eye you’ll be forever young, snapping up the Super Dave sandwich at Chateau Lanes (IF it was busy…otherwise, I’d always bring it to you 🤗) I will cherish your leather jacket (it fits like a second skin) Love, Bryanna PS God bless you PPS Ozzy4Liiiife

I just heard that David had past.we were best buds for a long time growing up.we had a lot of laughs and got into trouble a few times lol.the road trips out to Vernon and prince Rupert to visit Danny and Richard's and Sue's wedding were a blast.  we had our differences but we had run into each other over the years at the pony on Nairn and the laughs would start up like Ole times. i would stop in whenever  I saw his mustang out front for a cold beer .Dave was a great person always quick with a smile and a laugh.he was on my mind last December as I knew his birthday was on the 13th.i wish I had known he was ill.My condolences to Sharon Trish Richard and the rest of the Marks family.
