ROSE MARIE MARTYNIUK

(née JACOBY)

October 10, 1930 – November 3, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Martyniuk, at the age of 95. After a long and full life, Mom peacefully began her eternal life.

Predeceased by her parents, Theodore and Mary Jakubiw; her husband Harry; siblings, Mike, Lodge, Nicholas, Anne, Stella, John, Jean and Nettie.

Left to cherish a lifetime of fond memories is her son Steve; daughter Jeanette (Orest); granddaughters, Tamara (Frederick) and Sanna; great-granddaughters, Stevie, Violet and Dorothy; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Rose was born in Petersfield, MB on October 10, 1930. Her mother passed when she was 2 ½ years old and so she was brought up by her father and siblings. She moved to Winnipeg in her teens to start her new life where she met and married Harry at Blessed Virgin Mary Church on November 22, 1947. Family was everything to Rose as she not only raised her children, she took great care of her whole family and was an amazing Granny. Rose was unfailingly selfless, she truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures as crocheting, knitting and cooking and no one could beat her perogies and piroshki!

Though Rose battled advancing Dementia, her eyes would still light up every time she saw her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered for her warm smile, her innate ability to bring laughter to all those around her and will be missed by many. She effortlessly revealed what it meant to live life with courage, resilience, kindness and unconditional love. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank deeply the health care professionals, nurses and all staff (too many to name) at Holy Family Nursing home who worked so graciously and compassionately to make Rose feel welcome and loved, they will never ever be forgotten by the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rose can be made to Holy Family Nursing Home or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Although we know you would love to support our family at this time, we humbly regret that this interment will be private.

We had a wonderful mother,
One who never really grew old;
Her smile was made of sunshine,
And her heart was solid gold;
Her eyes were as bright as shining stars,
And in her cheeks fair roses you see.

We had a wonderful mother,
And that’s the way it will always be.
But take heed, because
She’s still keeping an eye on all of us,
So let’s make sure
She will like what she sees.

Rose will live on in our hearts forever.

on reading the passing of Rose, I was reminded of how kind and generous Rose and Harry were to me in my youth. They opened their home and hearts to me.They fed a growing kid and took me fishing with their son Steve. I am glad she lived a full and happy life. I will always cherish them and thank them. She was truly a ROSE as a woman, a mother, and a friend.

Rose was a long time friend to my mother Anne Drozdowski ( Drowsy). She was always such a lovely lady. Hopefully she and mom are having a wonderful reunion.

sincere condolences.
