LENA "OMA" MASI

August 15, 1952 - April 23, 2021

Born Lena Heidinger, August 15, 1952 to Elizabeth and Hugo Heidinger.

Mom passed away in the early morning of April 23, 2021.

Mom leaves behind her best friend/bird Rafiki, which lives on with her friend Marie. She was loved and proud of her three children; Dino (wife Mandy), Tammy (Husband Brian), and Elizabeth (Husband Rob).  Her grandchildren Aiden, Taliah, Isabella and Liam were her pride and joy and gave her the strength and love she so enjoyed.  Predeceased by her brother Art Heidinger, and his wife Betty. She also leaves behind brother Hugo; sister-in-law Lydia; niece Melanie, nephew Junior, and their families, relatives and friends that she held close to her heart.

Mom’s smile is the first thing everyone remembers when spoken of.  And if you ever were on the receiving end of her hug, its a peace and feeling of love you would never forget.  Mom was the BEST HUGGER EVER!

Mom taught us to love all people, help all people and be kind to all.

Know that though we mourn our loss, we know mom is free. Free to dance, free to sing, swim, cook, eat and laugh.  Mom is smiling down on us, wherever we may be and in our hearts.

Mom did not want a funeral but welcomes prayers and love for all. The family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. We will miss her infectious laugh and her wonderful sense of humor.  She was a special lady.  We are so grateful we got to spend some 'distanced' time with her earlier this year. She will be missed, but not forgotten.

Liz, Tammy, Dino, Hugo and families.   We were very saddened to hear of Lena's passing.  We will miss receiving Christmas cards from her and Rafiki.  . She would always tell us how much she loved the bird and what joy it brought to her life.  Whenever we did get the opportunity to share some time together, it was always a story and many laughs.   Her greatest joy was always telling us about the kids and grandchildren.  Looking at the video, Lena laughed, loved, and shared her life with many friends and relatives.   Lena, we wish we could of had at least one more laugh with you and another cheery story.   So very sorry for your tremendous loss to the family and all of Lena's friends.  Love Lana, Brian and Sandy.

On behalf of the Archibald Pharmacy & medical Centre, we send our condolences to Liz and family for the passing of Mrs. Masi We knew a very kind person, always with a big smile, helpful to her neighbours. We will miss her so much but we know that she is in better place without any suffering. Every time I visit the building, I feel there is something different. Miss you so much.

Mama Lena was one in a million! We met at the Church of the Rock.  She immediately opened up her home and her heart to us, lonely, poor international students. She was our Mum in so many ways too. I still use the electric hand whisk she gave me 19 years after. Her laughter and hugs are unforgettable. She was always in a good mood, though she had her health challenges. She made a huge difference for so many of us because she loved us like a mother.  Thank you for being the hands and hearts of Jesus to me, Mama. I love you so much!
