ROSE ANNETTE MAYER

(Night Flying Turtle)

May 4, 1948 – September 17, 2025

Rose Annette Mayer (Night Flying Turtle), a proud and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, auntie, and cherished friend, passed away at her home on September 17th at the age of 77.

Born in The Pas, MB on May 4th, 1948, Rose was a daughter, gentle and happy. She was a sister, playful, sharing secrets, looked up to as she grew into elegance. She was a cousin who babysat and entertained with enthusiasm and creativity. She became an aunt - nurturing and thoughtful. She was a woman who followed her heart while leaving smiles and thoughtful gestures with those fortunate to call her friend. She was a generous soul who was also tender, and who left a legacy of favourite songs, familiar gestures, and radiant smiles to ease our tears and soothe our hearts.

She was a grandmother and a great-grandmother who lovingly acknowledged each little one with sentimental nicknames, chosen just for them. She thoughtfully chose every gift, for every occasion with careful consideration – gift-giving was her love language. Her greatest gift was to her seven children. One by one she gave us life, and beyond that she gave us a family, her root so deep that we intertwined and grew strong around her. She will be with us in spirit always. We will feel her presence in the quiet of night, see her in the light of our children’s eyes, recognize her in the familiar sound of our siblings’ laughter that speaks to a bond so deep, one that began with the embrace of our first love...our mother.

Rose was deeply spiritual and cherished her faith in God. She knew that she would be reunited in heaven with her parents, Nelson and Dora (née Lavallee) Mayer; sisters, Angelina Mayer and Marilyn McClintock (w. Ken); and brothers, Nelson Mayer (w. Ella) and Armand Mayer.

She is lovingly cherished by her children, Christine (Mike), Crystal (Adrian), Charlene (Ryan), Steve , Mary (Dave), Monica, and Scott (Samantha); her grandchildren, Elise, Aaron, Randy, Hailey, Gabe, Lauren, Sadie, Josh, Carley, Jack, Cassidy, Sam, Hunter, Kiona, and Zara; great grandchildren, Alexander, Owen, Chloe, Sadie, Shaylyn, Olivia, and Leonardo; siblings, Ethel McKay (Garfield), Ethel Harte, Lorraine Mayer, Carrie Still, Pam Mayer, John Mayer, Maxine Reinson; goddaughter Maxine; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, aunties and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held at the home of her daughter, Charlene Hallett, on Sunday, October 12th, 2025.
