Betty Mayner

BETTY ELANORE MAYNER
October 18, 1946 – February 12, 2026
On February 12th, 2026 at 5:00pm in the evening, Betty Elanore Mayner passed quietly at Grace Memorial Hospital.
Born October 18th 1946, Betty is pre-deceased by her parents, George Mayner (1975) and Emma (Schulz) Mayner (1985); and her four siblings, Vernon (1982), Harold (2014), Edna (2019), and Dale (2024).
Born on a farm in Spalding Saskatchewan, Betty went to school in Naicam before following her siblings to Manitoba and moving to Snow Lake in the early 60’s with her parents.
Her oldest son, Paul was born in 1964.
Her second son, Dwain was born in 1968.
Betty finished her high school in Snow Lake while working odd jobs including at the Snow Lake Motor Inn. Her mother was very adamant about Betty finishing her education and in 1973, Betty completed her degree in business teacher education. She then taught in Churchill for two years before moving to Rivers Mb and taught there for five years.
Betty returned to Snow Lake where she worked as a substitute teacher and then at the Snow Lake school board office.
Betty married in 1982 and later moved to Camp Morton, just outside Gimli, from 1983 to 1986. Here, she managed the local grocery store and gas bar and operated the post office as the local postmaster.
Living briefly in Whitemouth in 1987, she then moved into Winnipeg and ran a grocery store on Talbot Avenue for a couple years as well as working as a legal secretary. After Klein and Co., she moved on to Edmond and Associates from 1990 to 2013.
After retiring, Betty enjoyed reading, and watching curling, figure skating and professional wrestling. You could usually tell which right away as soon as you got off of the elevator at her apartment.
She was elated to welcome her two grand-daughters, Shelby in 1995 and Samantha in 1998 and loved spending time with them… and spoiling them.
There will be no church service, so in lieu of flowers please make a donation to your local humane society.

Betty is my Aunt even though there is just over 5 yrs difference in age.. i have lots of fond memories of Betty. she wasn't just my aunt she was a friend. She showed me how to work in Gramma's little cafe in Naicom, Saskatchewan and make milkshakes Etc. I recall going with her to work at the telephone switchboard in that town and also dropping in at another cafe that had juke boxes at each booth. Lots of great music. These were different experiences for a young person from Flin Flon where I lived at the time. i visited her in Snow Lake with my family when they all moved there and also on my own. When she moved to Winnipeg and I would go home to FLin Flon to see mom I would stop and see her. I live in BC and always wished i lived closer to her and Dwain and Paul. Thanks for the great memories Aunty.
