SUSANNA MCEWEN

January 13, 1946 - July 11, 2021

With heavy hearts, we announce that Susan passed away on July 11, 2021 at the age of 75 years.

She is predeceased by her husband, Keith McEwen and daughter Lisa Mae.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children Bonnie Hurley (Bill) and James McEwen and grandchildren Kyle (Danielle), Michael, Paige, Meagan, Melissa, Breanna, Mason and Oliva.

Mom was born in Glasgow, Scotland in January 13, 1946 and cm to Canada as an infant to proud parents Wilfred and Jean Meehan who met and fell in love during World War 2.  She had 39 Canadian cousins!  Mom grew up in Ottawa and went to a Catholic Convent School. She and Dad met in high school when they were sixteen and married 3 years later. They had 3 children, Lisa, Bonnie, and James.  Mom worked at Canada Post from 1981 to 2003. Once retired she and Dad settled in Oak Lake Beach. There they really found home. Mom always actively volunteered throughout her life. Brownie Leader, Catechism Teacher, Lions Club, Catholic Women Group, Ladies Royal Purple, COPP Program and Richer Dawson Trail Museum. She thought it was so important to give back to your community.  She loved sewing for her grandchildren making special baby blankets and nighties and even sewing hunting blinds!  She was a kind and generous soul and she touched the hearts of everyone she met. We love you Mom. Give Dad a big hug and kiss from all of us.

In Accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date in Corkery, Ontario. In the meantime, Susan’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. I just learned that Susan passed away.  I worked with Susan at Canada Post in Winnipeg and I adored her.  She was one of the sweetest people I knew.  We lost contact over the years but she still always held a big spot in my heart.  My heart goes out to you as I know how much you must be missing her.  As well my condolences to you in the loss of your dad and sister Lisa.                                 All my love Della Hall
