Brad & Kathy McGraw

Brad & Kathy McGraw
KATHERINE MCGRAW
July 6, 1968 - July 11, 2023
Our dear sweet Kathy passed away from brain cancer at home with her husband Brad and sister-in-law Terri at her side.
Kathy grew up in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from the University of California, with a law degree and worked in litigation at a law firm in Lancaster, California. She met Brad McGraw while he was working in California. They married November 20, 2001 and lived in Lancaster. In 2010 they moved to Winnipeg. She arrived in Winnipeg on a cold stormy night and asked, “If I breathe in will my lungs freeze?” She was a California girl through and through. Kathy quickly learned to dress for our Manitoba climate.
She was like sunshine to our hearts.
She and Brad were both interested in history and enjoyed reading and debating politics. They loved animals.
Kathy was survived by her mother Fotini Astrinakis; brothers, Jonney and Stan (Maria) Astrianakis; and two nephews as well as Brad’s family. She is predeceased by her father; her sister Vicki; and one nephew.
A special thank you to Terri, for her medical knowledge and care for Brad and Kathy during her last months.
“You were not alone,
surrounded by love
and are greatly missed.”

BRADLEY DAVID MCGRAW
December 10, 1970 - October 30, 2025
Brad was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He moved with his family to Winnipeg in 1974 and later lived in Oakbank. His schools were Voyageur Elementary, Oakbank Elementary, Springfield Junior High and Grant Park High School. He attended Oakbank Baptist Church, Springfield Community Church and Grant Memorial Church, and was baptised in Lancaster Baptist Church, Lancaster, California.
He worked at Steven and Andrew’s and Fudruckers before moving west to Vancouver. He graduated from the Vancouver Film School and worked for Electronic Arts designing Sports games. He was transferred to California where he met Kathy through a mutual friend. They married November 20, 2001 and lived in Lancaster, California. After moving back to Winnipeg in 2010, Brad worked for MTS.
Brad was known for his overcomer attitude and quirky sense of humour which helped him deal with his physical disabilities. He was familiar with hospitals throughout his life. He was a compassionate, loyal, and generous man. He loved his brothers and their families. He grieved the loss of Kathy, the light of his life.
He passed away peacefully at home from heart failure at age 54.
He is survived by his Father Randy (Lori) McGraw; his Mom Mary (Tom) Fox; brother Greg (Terri) McGraw; nephew Josh (Jessie) McGraw; and grandnephews, Sam and Nathan; nephew Matthew McGraw and nephew Joel (Klarissa) McGraw; and grandniece Maeve, of Manitoba; and brother Marc (Tracy) McGraw; niece Ashleigh (Alex) Muir; and nephew Nicholas McGraw, of BC.
A private family funeral is planned. If desired, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, Cancer Care Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
“A bruised reed He will not break
and a smoldering wick
He will not extinguish.”

I am im at a loss! Brad has been in a gaming group with us for years and he was like family. He sent me some books while I was on deployment long ago that helped pass some time out there. Rest easy brother and you will be greatly missed Qik! To your family I am sorry for your loss and have many messages and chatter from him if you ever want them shared.

My heart aches for you and your family at this time of grief and loss. Brad was much too young to die. However, for him the struggle was long enough. Now we have to adjust to memories.
Your photo gallery is a beautiful help with that. Obviously, your boys were a trilogy well connected to each other. My thoughts and sympathy go out to Marc and Greg. I know how devistating it is to loose a brother.
Please accept my love and care. Flora
