DALE ELOISE McINTOSH

July 9, 1951 - February 16, 2020

It is with the deepest of sadness that the family announces the passing of our dear sister, with her family by her side, on Sunday, February 16, 2020 after a very long, difficult and courageous battle with cancer.

Dale was predeceased by her loving parents, Thelma and Fergus McIntosh; her brothers, Fergy and Wayne, and her "brother" (brother-in-law), Allen White. Dale's memory will be cherished by her twin sister, Dawn White; nephews, Andrew (Joline); Ian (Ashley), grandnephews, Connor and Cody; her sister, Melonee Collins; nephews Lyall (Jen) and grandniece, Phaedra; Lindsey (Tara) and grandnephew, Alex; nieces, Kelly and grandniece, Jahmaysha; Kerry (Carl), grandniece, Freya, and grandnephew, Riley; and her many dear relatives and caring friends, especially Margaret Tabak, Doug McMillen, Hamish Barrit, Francie Neaman and Linda Mouflier.

From a very early age Dale was ruled by her love of life. Many hours were spent outdoors playing with her neighbourhood friends. Dale was always popular and had the energy and imagination to keep everyone on the go. She was also very athletic and could excel at any sport. Her collection of red ribbons in track and field, gymnastics, and basketball as well as her participation in baseball and hockey, testified to her competitive prowess. Dale grew up in Fort Garry and attended Pembina Crest and Vincent Massey Collegiate.

Once Dale reached the age of eighteen, it was all about cars. Her skills as a driver emerged. She could drive any motorized vehicle and park it no matter how tight the fit. She was always so delighted to cruise the streets of Vancouver in her Mercedes.

This love of and passion for vehicles naturally led Dale to work in the auto body industry both in Winnipeg and in Vancouver. She held a variety of positions, including executive secretary, office manager, and accountant.  Dale was a “Jill of All Trades” and a quick study at everything she did. Dale devoted herself to her job and took pride in being a loyal company employee. She often went out of her way to ensure that things ran smoothly in the office and that her fellow workers and the customers were well-treated.

On a social level, Dale's "joie de vivre" carried over to her interactions with friends and relatives. Dale was a great story teller. She could make any event into a hilarious adventure with a little added hyperbole. To her nieces and nephews, Dale was larger than life. At family gatherings, Dale was the centre of attention, especially if dancing was involved. Dale loved music by Tina Turner and Kenny G.

Dale was a caring, compassionate person who valued her family and friends above all else. Dale loved her dog, Natasha, and was happiest when with her. She was greatly comforted to know that Natasha had a new home and a caring new owner, Hamish. Recently, Natasha who was blind, regained her sight. The vet, who knew Dale, called it a “miracle” and a sign that Dale is watching from Heaven!

Dale was a generous soul who befriended many in their time of need. Her emotional and sometimes financial support was invaluable. Their gratitude to Dale produced life-long friendships.

Dale was an optimist and a fighter who kept a positive outlook throughout her long cancer journey.  Unfortunately Dale's battle with cancer slowed her down, but never destroyed her spirit. To the very end, she remained optimistic and in love with life. She left a lasting impression on her healthcare staff who had never treated a patient who remained so positive and cheery. Dale maintained her optimism with frequent Sunday brunches at Cora's or a special celebration at The Gates.  She also enjoyed her picnic outings to Pinawa where she sat in a lawnchair and enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of nature. Of course her Bichon Frise, Natasha, would be snuggled on her lap.

The last few years were particularly challenging for Dale. Through her many operations, endless appointments, and painful treatments, Dale always had the loving support of her twin sister, Dawn. She could count on Dawn's medical knowledge, understanding, advocacy and presence. Dale was in capable hands and never had to face adversity alone. Her sisters were with her to the end.

The family sincerely thanks all the medical staff who were involved in Dale's long struggle. Dr. Elias, Dr. Cho, her compassionate doctors in CancerCare Manitoba and in the HSC Renal Program.  The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the HSC dialysis team, especially renal social worker Carly Froese.  Thank you to nurse Daryl on GH4 for your caring and compassion in Dale’s final days.

At Dale's request, there will be a private family interment at Brookside Cemetery.  Donations in Dale's name made to a charity of choice or to an animal shelter will be appreciated.

May you rest in peace, Dale, free at last from pain.

You will be forever in our hearts.

Love always and forever.

We met in Vancouver, B.C. in 1988 where we worked together.  Different as night and day, we quickly became best friends.  That friendship continued unabated until her passing on February 16, 2020.  A donation in her name has been made to Tsintah Siberian Husky Rescue Centre and Food Bank of Hines Creek, Alberta.  "The bugles cease now, she is at peace now".  Till we meet again dear friend.

Such a beautiful video to capture Dale’s beautiful spirit. I will always remember “Dancing Dale” as I see her in my memory, at one of the Geske get-togethers. She will be missed.  Much love & sympathy to the family.  ❤️

My darling girl, what a journey we have had. I feel keenly your loss whenever I reach for the phone to tell you something silly or just say hello. Your grace and spirit through this whole journey were incredible to witness, and i am so proud of what you accomplished in the face of insurmountable obstacles. Rest easy, love, and i hope you had the explanation for the Christmas Tree ready for Mom Thelma! Till we meet again, love Doug McMillen

A great time capsule of Dale from the beginning to the end. Amazing to see Nanny and Poppy as young parents with such adorable twins. Dale you have left so many people luckier to have known you. Your gregarious presence is inimitable and I feel very lucky to have had you in my life. So glad you got to meet little Alex :) Miss you lots. 'Love you Forever and a Day'

We met in 1976, our time together was short as a few months later she moved to Vancouver. She had bought a new Green Monte Carlo with a white leather interior  which she loved. She cared deeply, and was so helpful to so many during her employment at the Pharmacy on Corydon, and then at the one in the Medical Arts Bldg! We enjoyed many lovely dinners and evenings in our short time. , and 44 years later, I still remember her like it was yesterday >> She was a most caring and loveable soul towards everyone. After moving to Vanc, we met there for what became our last dinner, when I was out on business about a year or so later. She picked me up and dropped me off in her Mercedes ! R.I.P. my friend, and we shall meet again some Sunny Day !  I look forward to our reconnecting again after my time has come to it's end.,!

I just seen this lovely tribute to Dale.  I am her cousin who hasn't seen them for many many years.  Dale was always good to my mom and on one of her visits they called, it was a nice memory!  I remember as kids riding out trikes in the basement and hours of fun.  My condolences to all the.family!  RIP Lynn Campbell

My name is Muhammad khan and I know Dale since November 2018 when I started my dialysis at HSC and then I went for my transplant in back home. During my sessions I found her very cooperative and always motivated me because I lost my both kidneys at the age of 36. Yesterday I heard about her death and I was shocked and had flash back. She was super friendly and caring person always making sure that I’m doing well. Last I meet her may 2019 when I had my last session and I was leaving for my transplant. She will be remembered in my memories rest of my life and definitely she’s in batter place RIP Dale.

It was 2 years ago today when you left on your final journey.   You know now how much your friendship meant to me while you were here.  Till we meet again ... or next year, whichever comes first.❤

Dale was always there to help, no matter what the situation. She would never judge and did everything out of love. She was truly a wonderful woman and was like a second mother to me. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of her. My family was blessed to have such a loving, caring, compassionate Aunt in our lives.
