Alexander McIntyre

In Loving Memory of
ALEXANDER MCINTYRE
February 20, 1938 – August 2, 2025
Peacefully, on Saturday, August 2nd at 5:15 PM, our beloved Dad left us to be reunited with his cherished Betty, after a brief but brave battle with cancer.
Dad was born in 1938 in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of James and Sarah McIntyre. He had a love of reading and learning from a young age, and a deep passion for football (soccer), which remained with him throughout his life.
After finishing school, he began working in various factory positions. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Elizabeth (Betty), at a dance hall in Glasgow. He was instantly smitten. They married soon after and began building a beautiful life together, starting with the births of their sons Jim and Alex.
In 1963, they made the bold move to Canada, where Dad took a position in Moose Lake, Manitoba. Shortly after settling in, their daughter Liz was born. The family later moved to Winnipeg, where their youngest, Evelyn, completed their loving household.
Our home quickly became a gathering place full of laughter, warmth, and endless memories. Mom and Dad created a vibrant circle of friends who became family—Brian and Molly Eaton, Dave and Net Cole, Norman and Doris Irwin (and the entire Irwin family), Jack and Diane Lundy, and George and Lil Reed, just to name a few. From Bomber games to Jets games, the cheers from our house could be heard down the street. And the New Year’s parties? Truly legendary.
Dad was a man of integrity, guided by principles he never compromised. He worked hard and taught us to do the same—but above all, he showed us that family comes first. His unwavering devotion to Mom during her illness was a powerful lesson in what true love really means.
Alexander leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering family values. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Farewell, my father,
Though you’re gone,
Your love and light
Forever shone.
In the tapestry of life,
You leave a mark,
A legacy of love
That lights the dark.
Though tears may fall
And hearts may ache,
Your spirit lives on,
No bond can break.
So, farewell, my father,
Until we meet again,
In the sweet embrace
Of eternity’s ken.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Jim, Alex, Liz and Eve along with their families. The Cole’s consider the McIntyres and Eatons as family. When we emigrated to Canada in 1967 it was so nice to have met and had each other’s backs in a new country. They made it feel as home.
We are all deeply saddened by Alec’s passing. Alec (Uncle Alec) was a proper gentleman. He was kind , generous and was always quick with a joke. He was handsome and stood tall and strong even into his 80’s with his full head of hair and sparkling blue eyes.
Rest in peace Alec

Alex was a wonderful friend to my parents as well as to my wife Elizabeth and I. We had many a dinner together which usually finished with laughter and a conversation about family . Alex had a passion for his kids and grandkids and yes Mason. Alex and Betty were surrogate parents to my wife who also immigranted from Scotland.. Alex was very knowledgeable about sports and we had many differences about certain games and teams but it was in a funny way. We are truly sorry that we were unable to spend more time with him especially after Betty's passing.. We will miss him greatly. No words can truly express our sympathy to his family but know we love you.

Uncle Alex was a man to be admired. His heart was surely full of so much love for Aunty Betty, and all of his family. He was kind and positive. I did not see him towards his last months earthside, but I will remember the last breakfast we had. I always saw my Grandpa im him. Which was difficult but warming all at once. I know he was welcome with open arms by his wife, parents, brother and sister in law. How beautiful to be reunited. Until we are all together again, rest in peace, love and eternal happiness. My condolences to the family as you all mourn him as well as the one year anniversary of Aunty Bettys passing. My heart is with you all

Uncle Alex meant the world to me. He took me under his wing as "one of his own", and I will never forget his kindness and caring. I will miss the phone calls and our weekly breakfast. There is a huge emptiness that I feel in my daily life now, but will cherish every moment I was blessed to be with him. I thank him for all he has done for me.
My heart hurts for all his children, grandchildren and all who loved him. Rest easy Uncle. See you when I see you ❤️

I remember we used to watch Johnny Carson together after he finished his afternoon shifts at Kimberly Clark I was too young to understand most of the jokes but i laughed so hard because Uncle Alex was almost bent over laughing he also bought me my first pair of adidas runners which I loved.
He will be sadly missed by a lot of us.
RIP Uncle Alex
