ERNEST MCIVOR

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ernie McIvor Passed on February 8 at the age of 73. 

He is survived by his sister, niece, two great nephews, two daughters and two grandchildren. 

Ernest had a lifelong love of traditional Inuit art, public music and food culture. Growing up in Ontario, Ernest found a love for scuba diving and would found a scuba club, teach scuba and eventually live underwater for a study. Ernie gave up diving after surviving a boat explosion. 

Ernie loved Winnipeg, he believed it was the best city in Canada, he loved the music, food and friendly open demeanour that is Winnipeg. The only comparable place to Ernest was New Orleans where he shared his love of music, food and art with his family. 

The family will have a celebration of Ernest McIvor’s life this summer in Toronto.
