DEBORAH (DEBBIE) MCKINNON

(née Sabeski)

1954 - 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Debbie McKinnon on December 8, 2025.

She is survived by her brothers, Wayne (Maria Estela), Gary, Darren (Patti) and Lauren (Lynne); nieces and nephews, Selene, Cheryl (Wade), Edward, Alex (Serena), Sara (Keegan), Alyssa and Blake; and great niece and nephews, Liliana, Roderic and Drayce.

Debbie enjoyed her career in the restaurant industry, first in Winnipeg where she eventually opened her own restaurant. Deb then moved to Oakville, Ontario where she worked at Seasons and Corks for 20 plus years. There she met and enjoyed her time with her regular customers.

Debbie was diagnosed with Cancer (Multiple Myeloma) in January of 2019. She fought this battle with highs and lows but it did not stop her spirit.

She was still able to enjoy traveling, going to her favorite and new restaurants, enjoyed spending time with her cherished family and friends... and still competitive in cards and dice games.

A Big Thank you to Dr. Vi Dao and team at Cancer Care for everything. You were amazing. Also a big Thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and team who cared for her the last 4 days of her life.

Cremation has taken place and a private interment and Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.

Rest in peace, Lil Sis.

We're so sorry for your loss. We remember meeting Debbie when we'd be visiting Wayne and his family over at his parents' house, many moons ago and have fond memories of those days. Sincere sympathies to the whole family.

We’ve known Debbie for over 30 years. We first met her while she was working in a couple of restaurants in Oakville. Debbie was fast, efficient, and friendly. Besides being great at her job, she was so knowledgeable about everything in the restaurant business. Besides being great at her job, Debbie had a very kind and caring nature always ready to help her friends. About 7 years ago, Debbie was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Debbie fought long and hard to stay alive. We don’t know how she managed to live with her pain. We do know, that she was able to manage her illness with the steadfast support of her brother Gary.

Debbie will be missed by many friends and family members.
Heaven has received another Angel . Rest in peace dear Debbie

To our dear friend Debbie. We had the pleasure of knowing you and Gary for over 30 years. You always brought joy and happiness with you💕 Always excellent in your restaurant " service", and you always worked so hard to make your customers happy. We marveled at your ability to work so fast and efficiently.

Now, besides your work ethics, you were a kind and thoughtful person, always ready to help your friends when needed.

You suffered so much over the last 7 years with Multiple Myeloma, and we were amazed at your stamina in the face of your illness.

We know that your brother Gary was always there for you...and know that he will miss you terribly. You are in a better place now, free of pain 🙏🏻 and suffering. Heaven got another Angel 💗
