It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stanley McLeod.

On Friday September 22, after a battle with Cancer, Stan passed away at Riverview Health Care Centre, with family at his side. He was 81.

He is survived by his partner Bev and her daughter Leigh-Anne, son and daughter in-law Perry & Tuesday, beloved grandson Jake, sister Laura (Dave), sister-in-law Iris, brother and sister-in-law Bill & Linda as well as many cherished Nieces, Nephews, and extended family.

Stan was predeceased by his wife Anne in 1996, his parents Alexandre & Mary, sisters Liz (Mel), Julie (Jim) and brother Gordon. As well as his brothers-in-law Jack and Fred.

Stan was born October 22, 1941 in Mannewakan Manitoba and was raised on the family farm near Lundar, where he met lifelong friends at Camper School and the surrounding areas.

He moved to Winnipeg as a teenager to work, and gained varied work experience before taking a job at Reimer Express Lines.

Stan met Anne on a baseball diamond, they eventually married in 1968, and their son Perry was born in 1971.

Stan was dedicated to being a great father and husband. Family camping trips to many locations (but mostly St Malo) were some of Stan’s favorite memories because of the shared fun-times with family and friends.

Early on, Stan loved many sports including Boxing and Hockey, but Fastball was his true passion. He played in the Manitoba Major Fastball Association and while he was a great Catcher and First Baseman, he was a tremendous hitter with a lifetime .333 average.

Stan took tremendous pride in coaching Baseball and Hockey in Perry’s younger years and the kids he coached have, on many occasions, expressed what a positive impact “Mr. McLeod” had on them. Anne & Stan were in many ways the “Mom & Dad” for many in the Isaac Brock Community. He was so very proud of “his kids” but was especially proud when the team he coached won the Provincial Fastball Championship.

Stan started golfing relatively late in life, but made up for time lost by introducing many friends to it. He loved the game, and because of his baseball hitting skills, was great with a driver.

While raising a family, Stan amassed a long career at Reimer, where he made cherished friendships. His Reimer brothers and sisters were near and dear to him. Stan took great pride in driving. He won multiple safe driving awards throughout his career and accumulated over one million miles and 41 years of safe driving. On occasion, Stan participated in the Manitoba Truck Rodeo and represented Manitoba in the National Championships.

Stan loved videography as a hobby, and later on began filming and producing videos for weddings and special occasions. He captured many people’s special moments.

After the passing of beloved wife Anne in 1996, Stan leaned on his work at Reimer, his Videography jobs, and his numerous friends and family for support.

After Stan’s retirement from Reimer, he kept busy with jobs that included Greens Keeper at John Blumberg Golf Course, School Bus Driver and delivering new Trucks for Mack Trucks Inc.

In 2004 Stan became a grandfather. Stan was very proud of Jake and was there to support his sporting events, school events and Piano recitals. Hearing Jake play piano was a great source of joy for Stan, and a source of comfort during his final days.

In 2007 Stan moved to his apartment in the Courts of St James and it was there that he met Beverley. They found that they had a lot in common and moved in together in 2009. They enjoyed great times golfing, travelling, dancing, watching Jets & Blue Jay games, and especially visits over coffee and meals with friends and family. Grandma & Grandpa loved participating in any and all of their beloved grandson Jake’s activities.

Many have reached out to offer support over these past months. This support has been comforting and a testament to a life well lived. Special appreciation to Abe Elias for being a lifelong friend to Stan, and a great help over the past few months.

Thank you to the staff at Riverview for their compassionate care of our beloved Stan.

A Celebration of Stan’s life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, September 30 at 603 Wellington Crescent (Unitarian Church).
