PATRICIA ANNE MCNEIL

(née TRUMAN)

October 19, 1941 - August 1, 2024

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Patricia (Pat) Anne McNeil on Thursday August 1, 2024 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Pat was predeceased by her husband Bruce McNeil in 2009. Left to mourn her passing are her children, Barry McCallister, Ryun Truman (Laura), Susan Roffey (Mark) and David Allison (Lorriena); her grandchildren, Melissa Handkamer (Kevin), Michael Allison (Amy), Jaymee Allison (Meghan), Aaron Truman, Emily Roffey and Catherine Fewings (Tyler); her nine great-grandchildren; her brothers, Robert Truman (Carol) and Ronald Truman (Elaine); nieces, Karen, Kimberly, Heather; nephew Michael; and Bruce’s eight children and their families.

Pat was born on October 19, 1941 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Being part of a military family growing up, Pat moved to several military towns around the world. In 1980, she moved to Trenton Ontario, where she met the love of her life Bruce McNeil, a father of eight children. They married in 1985 and moved to Winnipeg in 2000. Pat was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked in the airline industry as well in property management. She was a very talented pianist and swimming instructor. She loved to entertain and celebrate special occasions with her family and friends. She loved music, tending to her gardens, sewing, laughing and playing games with her family and friends.

She will be dearly missed by all. We will always love you and miss you.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rittberg and the staff at CancerCare Manitoba for their compassion and devoted care over these past several months. We would also like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Riverview Health Centre for their dedication and care for mom.

In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba in memory of Pat.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00PM on August 12, 2024 at 603 Wellington Crescent. Interment will be held at Assumption Cemetery following the service.

Pat’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

My sister Pat was born six years before me. She left home in Alberta when she was 16 – and I was only 10. The little that I remember is that, as the baby of the family, my big sister adored me – that’s my story and I am sticking with it.

Pat, the party girl, hosted numerous family gatherings at Christmas, for weddings and the like.

For example, when Bruce retired from the air force, Pat hosted ALL the family (12 children & partners) at her home, providing food and accommodation for the whole horde – a McNeil Hilton with a garage full of bunk beds.

On a serious note, Pat was a loving and steadfast caregiver for Bruce after his stroke.

Staying serious, I believe that Pat was the smartest of the three children – she got the musical talent in the family, had multiple successful careers, and raised four children.

I, we, will miss you Pat.
