JEAN MICHAUD

April 19, 1959 - October 13, 2022

With heavy hearts, we announce that Jean passed away on October 13th 2022 in St Boniface Hospital with his son and daughter by his side at the age of 63 years.

He is survived by his children Danny (Stacey) and Krystal (Mat); grandchildren Levi, Cole, Walker, Isla and Huey; siblings, Ginette, Denis and Jocelyn; as well as extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his mother and father; his sister Francine; and his brother Serge.

Jean spent his early years living in Montreal where his parents took care of a school. He lived there until his teenage years when his family moved to Lac Allard Quebec. There he and his siblings helped build the new homestead. Jean didn’t stay for long and started to venture off on his own early on in life. Soon after Jean decided to join the military starting with the army.

Somewhere along the line Jean had also become very interested in martial arts where he became a black belt in Kung fu. While Jean was in the military, he accomplished many things. He became a security officer and was a driver for some VIPs even including the queen when she visited as part of the military escort. Jean eventually found his way to Winnipeg through the air force where he was able to start a new family.

He was married and took on the role of father to Danny and shortly after had his daughter Krystal. Jean enjoyed many great years camping in Stonewall and making many friends as he was helping raise a young family. He was very proud of his family and his accomplishments.

Jean worked at a few jobs including Federal Pioneer and Standard Aero after his over decade of military service. Jean had a few hobbies that included refinishing antique wood furniture. Once friends and family learned of Jean’s talent he was sought after to do a few jobs that are still looking beautiful in people's homes to this day.

Dad, we will miss you tremendously every day. You touched the lives of many with your generosity to help and beautiful, kind nature. You were a gentleman and a great friend to many and most importantly our dad. We love you and will always cherish your memory and we will make sure to share our many memories with the generations of family to come.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. Sunday, October 30th 2022 at Duke of Kent Legion (227 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB). We would love for anyone to come visit with us and share some stories with us. Food and drinks will be provided.

Jean’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

Rest well my friend. I was a lucky person to benefit of furniture refinishing. He refinished a very old singer cabinet sewing machine. I will be leaving this sewing machine to my daughter Tracy Klassen. His spirit wii live on.
