Ken Milburn

KENNETH “KEN” JOHN WESLEY MILBURN
April 7, 1937 – May 2, 2025
Ken was born in Winnipeg on April 7, 1937. He had a happy childhood growing up in the west end.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Gertrude Milburn; and his only brother, Barry.
He will be lovingly remembered by his precious family, his wife Florence (Oswald); his son, Daniel (Roseanne) and their children, Keith, Jennifer, David (Maki), and Minato; his daughter, Tanis (Alex) and their children, Zakary and Juno; sister-in-law, Vivienne Milburn; James; John; and Lauren (Lowell) Milburn; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
From early on in his life he had an interest in electronics, TV and radio, and loved to tinker with building gadgets. He had so many hobbies – but when computers came on the scene, this was an interest he really enjoyed for the rest of his life.
He began his telephone career with MTS as an apprentice in 1957. He worked in The Pas, Portage la Prairie, and Winnipeg, retiring in 1994 after a 37-year career with them.
He married the love of his life Florence (Oswald) in 1962, and they had almost 63 years together. The highlight of his life was the arrival of their children, Daniel in 1970, and Tanis in 1972. He deeply loved his family, and they were the focus of his life.
He had strong opinions on some subjects, and loved to have a good debate. He liked to think outside the box. He was very kind-hearted and always willing to lend a hand.
He was steadfast in his faith his whole life and was very thankful to God for all the blessings he had received.
We will miss him and keep his memory in our hearts forever.
We thank family, friends and neighbours, our church family, his health care aides and hospital workers, for all their kindness and support.
A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 637 Buckingham Road, Winnipeg, with Pastor Tyler Gingrich officiating. A private interment of ashes will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
Ken’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Our condolences. Ken always had the biggest smile in the room and a wonderful sense of humour. We loved hearing his stories and jokes, they never failed to bring a smile to our faces. He will be deeply missed.

Our deepest condolences to you Florence, Dan and Tanis.
Ken was always so much fun and especially the years that we were in Gloria Dei choir together. His love of music and involvement with the choir as well as the organ, was deeply treasured.
Our prayers are with you at this time.

Ken was a person always willing to help and give his opinion. When Darlene would have a computer or printer issue she would call cousin Ken to help solve the problem. In the past months Violet and I would visit and always enjoyed seeing his happy smile. We will remember him smacking his liips enjoying the ginger snaps that Violet had made him. We will miss him.
