LESLIE (LES) WILLIAM MILLS

September 9, 1949 - September 10, 2025

It is with sadness we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle and friend, Leslie William Mills.

Les passed quietly surrounded by family in Winnipeg on September 10th, 2025, having just celebrated his 76th birthday.

He was raised in Ear Falls, Ontario, and pursued a career in sales in Winnipeg before progressing to Edmonton. Les enjoyed his work, and the range of interesting people he met through it. He could often be found volunteering around the community at events that piqued his interest, such as car races, air shows, fundraising BBQs and show-and-shines.

Les loved his family, and was unwaveringly committed to his sister Glenna, brother Jim, nieces and nephews, and their partners and children across the country and around the globe. He could be counted on by family and friends to help with any and all weekend projects, and was always ready to give someone a ride, or take a dog for a walk. As a guest, Les was always in the kitchen helping his host prepare the meal or doing the dishes.

He did not know how to be sick, which made his struggle with cancer all the more difficult. Most of the time, he didn’t know or show how ill he really was.

Les’ resiliency and unknowing indomitability enabled him to fight cancer for a decade. We are blessed for the extra time with him he allowed us in Edmonton, and later in Winnipeg.

Buoyant and kind, irreplaceable and unforgettable, we will miss him often and always.

A celebration of Les’ life will be held starting at 11:00 on October 18, 2025 in the Tamarack Room of the Qualico Family Centre, 330 Assiniboine Park Dr., Winnipeg.

Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Foundation in lieu of flowers.

Les’ family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
