I have the most vivid memories of Dr and Mrs Milner (always Uncle Bob and Auntie June to us) with Craig, Jane and Yvette, living in their beautiful house  at the corner of St Vital Road and Victoria Crescent.  Bob Milner had the best collection of jazz LPs I ever came across (with a special fondness for the pianist Ahmad Jamal)  and a taste for beautiful cars, like his green-and-gold 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 convertible that seemed to me to be the epitome of style.  He was a kind and thoughtful man, and a good friend to my parents.   I give thanks for the memory of his wisdom and understanding.

I was sad to hear of his passing. He was a wonderful caring man with a great sense of humor. I actually got to know him as a anesthesia sales rep many years ago. Became friends with him and Iris. I remember the time he invited my wife and I over for dinner and he gave us a taste of Jamaica. I loved this guy and had many fun rounds of golf over the years at LaSalle. He was a darn good golfer for his age at the time. As life moves on I lost track of Bob but will never forget him!

Years ago while working for Iris Mencik at the VGH medical staff office, I met Dr. Milner. I would see him on a fairly regular basis at day's end, when he would come by to pick Iris up.  At these times there was always jokes, teasing and of course his hearty, infectious, belly laugh to follow. Such a kind, positive gentleman.  Sending sincere condolences to the Milner and Mencik families. Paulette Lapointe

Sorry to hear about Dr Milner.  He was Chief of Anesthesia at the Vic when I joined and he ran the O/R.  He was such a dedicated and hard working exact physician and colleague--excellent to work with over the many years.  I was privileged to look after him when he first became ill.  I remember him finishing his slate so he could go golfing at his beloved Canoe Club in the afternoons. My condolences for a great doctor.....DrJ

I am sad to hear of Bob’s passing.  My husband and I had some wonderful times both in LaSalle and our place on Bluegrass with Bob and Iris .  True friends.  I remember very fondly in the latter years picking up “ my buddy Bob” and going out for breakfast.  We had some good laughs.  I extend my condolences to Bob’s and Iris’s families.  He will be well remembered.

I can close my eyes and hear his distinctive laugh, his calypso (and often cheeky) songs and his bellowing for the children (me included) to clean up!  I remember the rides in his swish convertible to and from the Canoe Club where Craig, Jane and I spent our summers playing tennis and hanging out poolside.  And I can see the BDI milkshake in his hand.  I sat with my Mom  last week and told her of Uncle Bob’s death and she was so sad and asked me to make sure Jane, Craig, Yvette and Iris’ family all knew she was thinking of them (she was also a work colleague of Bob and Iris at VGH).  I am happy and grateful that the friendship between our two families continues today….over 60 years later.  So many wonderful memories….thank you and God Speed Uncle Bob!

I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to all the Mencik kids. I spent many memorable hours with Jeannie and Ellen at the house on Rockcliffe Road where Bob (Dr. Milner to me) was always kind and welcoming. Jeannie and I used to dance downstairs to the joyful Reggae music when Bob and Iris were entertaining guests!!!! I am sure Bob will be profoundly missed by his entire family. What a blessing to have had such a long life and illustrious career as a respected physician.

I am very sorry to read of Bob's death.  I first met him in the early '60s when he showed me how to start IVs at SBGH, and my husband and Bob worked together there as fellow anaesthetists.  David and I shared good food and laughs with Bob and Iris. He was a lovely man, to be missed.  My condolences to all the extended family.

Bob was my favorite VGH Staff member who, supported the Chaplains at the Vic. It was my pleasure and honor to have officiated his and Iris's Wedding in the Chapel of VGH.
