MARGARET FRANCES MITCHELL
(née Marlatt)
July 27, 1930 - January 29, 2025
Margaret passed away at Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville, Manitoba, on January 29, 2025. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Wyatt; her son, Allan; her sister, Shirley Brown; and her parents, Hilda and Leonard Marlatt.
Margaret leaves to mourn her daughter Myrna Mitchell (Bryan Kirk); her brother John Marlatt (Gwen); her brother in law Herb Brown; nieces and nephews, Michael (Barb), Cary, Ron (Angela), Greg, Mervin, Larry (Patti); and special friends, Joyce Kirk, Dorothy Wiebe, and Norine Mathern.
Margaret was born (July 27, 1930) in the Rathwell area. As a young woman she worked as a telephone operator in Rathwell and later took a position with the telephone system in Roland. Apart from a short absence to start her family, Margaret worked for Manitoba Telephone System in various positions until her retirement.
Margaret married Wyatt Mitchell, a local Roland farmer in 1949. They moved to the family farm just north of Myrtle where they raised their two children. Margaret and Wyatt were a great team as each were enriched by their partnership. After retiring from farming they explored the southern USA. Eventually they bought a mobile home in Magic Valley Resort, Westlaco, Texas where they wintered for 30 years making many good friends. Margaret especially loved her time in Texas. She quilted, shopped for bargains at the flea market, organized shopping trips to Mexico and supported local live theatre. She was always up for new and interesting adventures.
Margaret was very fortunate to live the last six months of her life as a resident of Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville, Manitoba. The family would like to thank the staff for all of the kindness you showed Margaret. It was greatly appreciated.
Margaret loved life and always lived it on her terms.
In accordance with Margaret's wishes no formal service will be held.
If people wish to express their sympathy a donation to the Pembina Valley Humane Society would be appreciated.

I remember lots visits and camping trips with Aunt Margaret and Uncle Wyatt and more recently an action packed tour of Ireland with her, my mom and Myrna. Aunt Margaret loved flowers and trips to the English Garden at Assiniboine Park. And she loved dogs- Myrna's little pooch Enzo would always make her smile 😊
