I have known Darryl for over 50 years and we have kept in touch over the years  I have lived in Vancouver for over 40 of those years..  I went to Winnipeg last September and made a surprise visit to Darryl   It was an incredable visit for both of us as we have not seen each other for over 40 years.  I guess it was meant to be and I am so very pleased that we had that last visit.  I will  miss her a lot and hold her in my heart as my dearest friend.  Penny Thompson

My dear friend and former boss Darryl will be forever remembered in my heart for her smile, laughter and fun. There was always lots of laughter. I will miss her. My deepest condolences to her family and close friends. May you find peace and comfort in the days to come.

On behalf of the McCabe family, I would also like to thank good friend Linda Radcliffe for stepping in as Darryl's POA and Next of Kin in Winnipeg.  Thanks, too, to her good friend Sally who, along with Linda, were her loyal and dear friends.

Cousin Darryl was always kind and supportive.  When I was a little girl growing up in Minnesota, my mother Phoebe McCabe Wiethoff would tell me stories of how much she loved visiting her Aunt Donna & Uncle Bob Moore and spending time on Lake of the Woods with cousins Darryl and Mac.  As soon as I was old enough to write, I began sending cards to Darryl (using 2 postage stamps for Canada, my mother reminded me).  I didn't get to meet Darryl until I was an adult, married, living in California.  Knowing our shared love of bears, Darryl did the research on how to visit Churchill to see the polar bears in the wild as a "day trip" out of Winnipeg.  "Day trip" was really almost 24 hours door to door to the arctic and back but it was a bucket list adventure of a lifetime my husband Chris and I will never forget.  I'll post several photos from that trip.  A few years later Darryl and her then partner met my mother and I in Las Vegas for a fun weekend.  Though it had been several years since I last saw Darryl, she and I would continue to write to each other, old school correspondence on stationery (using 2 stamps for Canada!).  I will miss not only her letters but her gentle soul.  No matter her struggles, she always remained positive.  God bless you, Darryl, in the Spirit World.  You will never be forgotten.

"Moore" was what my Father affectionately called her. In his last years, Darryl made a point of visiting him at the Lake of the Woods, they both loved. That was a kind thing to do. And now that I think of it, it was that selfless kindness of Darryl's that was her strongest trait. Daddy thought it was her humour. According to my Mother, their times together, which Daddy loved, were punctuated by laughter. But he told me that what he loved most about Darryl was her independent spirit, something my sister, Dell, and Judy Dowler mentioned when we talked about what we'll miss most about Darryl. I was the beneficiary of that independence of hers  from a very early age, as I tagged along beside Darryl at the Lake of the Woods, the place she and my Father loved, and where she'll have a well deserved rest after a life well lived in devotion to others' needs. I know I'm not the only one who will miss dear "Moore". I'm blessed to be able to count myself lucky to have known her. My condolences to all who had the privilege to do the same. Kay(Wilson)
