ROGER CHARLES MOREAU

May 20, 1984 – September 21, 2022

With heavy hearts, we sadly announce that Roger passed away on September 21, 2022 in his home surrounded by his belongings and his cats, Phoebe and Cruise at the age of 38 years.

Roger is survived by his Mother, Connie Rennie (Steve) and Father, Rod Moreau (Cecile); his siblings, brothers Robert (Jessica), Raymond (Felicia), Adam (Kelly), Dylan and step-sister Megan (Christopher); his only surviving Grandmother Ruth Daynard (Harold), step grandparents Bob and Sandra Rennie, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins from all around the world. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Ron & Leona Moreau and Albert Daynard.

Roger was the oldest of all his siblings and was raised in the Greater Toronto Area - Scarborough and Mississauga, Ontario.  He also spent time in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario with many of his relatives on both the Moreau and Daynard sides.  Roger graduated from St. Josephs High School and Sheridan College in Mississauga with degrees in Early Childhood Education and Hospitality.  He later received certificates in social work.

Roger began working in education as a special educator working with children with special needs.  Although Roger loved this type of work, he also enjoyed working with others in hospitality.  After he received his degree in hospitality, he was hired as an intern and then a permanent employee for The Sheraton Center Hotel in Toronto.  After years of working in the hotel industry, Roger moved to Seattle to be closer to his mother and family.  He then began a wonderful journey working on Princess Cruise Ships as an Officer, Shorex and Front Desk Supervisor.  Roger absolutely loved his time with Princess, cruising all around the world.  He met many lifelong friends from his time on the ships.  I remember for his 26th birthday, he was so excited to share that he was able to spend the day and night in Greece – a memory that he cherished always!

After working on the cruise ships, Roger decided to move to Sault Ste. Marie and ultimately Winnipeg, Manitoba to be closer to his father’s side of the family.  In Winnipeg, Roger decided to investigate working with troubled youth, which led him to his latest job with New Directions.  He spoke very fondly of all the youth (boys and girls) that he was working with in the group homes.  He took pride in knowing that he was there helping them through their troubles and shared in their pain.

Roger had a passion for writing and filming at a very young age.  He worked with his close friends in high school and produced many short films and wrote short stories.  His passion for writing and filming never left him and he published his first book: A Boy Growing Up Different which was printed in September 2021 by www.StoryTerrace.com. This was his first of 3 memoirs; the 2nd and 3rd were still in the writing/editing stages.

There will be many small private celebrations of Roger’s life from both the Rennie, Moreau, Daynard families as well as his closest friends.  The family encourages the sharing of stories, memories, and condolences by using the comment section on this tribute page.

A special thank you to Berny and Rosa for helping Roger through some difficult times.  Also thank you to Shane and Sandy of Ethical Death Care for all your help with the cremation and support to both Rogers mother and father.  Thank you also for the care you displayed in ensuring that Roger will be reunited with his mother in the United States.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making contributions in Roger’s memory to Mental Health Canada or United States.

Roger, you are so missed by many and will be loved forever!  Thank you for being in our lives and Rest Easy until we meet again!

I've known Roger since we were 16. He's one of the first new friends I made moving to Mississauga and entering St. Joseph. I will always remember our Eminem greetings in the hallway. As you were the one who introduced me to him. And the first song I heard and shared with you was: Under The Influence. I still can't speak about you in the past tense term. So I won't. You have the most gentlest and warmest eyes. Which made it easy for allot of us to know that you're one of the good ones. A real one. I only regret that you and I never took 1 single picture together. Thank you for being a really good friend. Thank you for always willing to listen and extend a helping hand. I will always love you. Even though my heart is broken for you and your family. I miss you my sassy beautiful soul. God picks ONLY the best roses to be planted in his garden. US humans were all born with angel wings. All of us who knows you and loves you are happy. Because GOD chose YOU to be placed in his garden. BUT, we are all very sad at the same time. As we weren't ready for you to use your angel  wings as yet. So my beloved dear friend. Fly high. And rest easy. 💋💚

Hey Cuz, I know your in a better place now.  It hurts knowing you were struggling and there was nothing I could do to help you! We did so much together in our early life and then countries and jobs took us away from each other during our 20s and into our thirties! I know there is never enough time and I will always hold close and cherish the memories we made.  You were my first best friend and my closest confidant always! You knew more about me at times then anyone else in my life, the trust we shared was one of a kind! I will make sure my boys know about you and how amazing of a human being you were! Rest easy big cuz, I’ll see you again someday! Love you forever and always!

Roger was one of those people who was full of great surprises every time you talked to him- always onto a new life adventure, which is inspiring. I lived up the street from him in middle school and part of high school. I remember collaborating with him during the lockdown two years ago on his film "What To Do?" after not hearing his voice for years, and I was pleasantly surprised to hear he had the same infectious laugh as he did when we were kids! ❤️ His passion for helping others and sharing his experiences displayed his admirable strength and compassion. He never judged a book by its cover. One of the purest hearts this world has ever been blessed with. I wish he could have moved back to Toronto, but Heaven needed another angel. I miss you, Roger. Thank you for being you, and inspiring others to live their truth. Your legacy lives on through the lives you've touched and inspired. My heart goes out to his family and those he considers family. 💐

I am so sorry to learn of the sad news, I wish I could have done something to help Roger deal with whatever it was he was going through. We met in our early 20s when we both lived in Mississauga and he was a friend to both my brother and I. Condolences go out to his friends and family. Miss you buddy! ❤

Where do I start? We knew Roger from when his family moved in across the street. Wonderful friends who are like part of the family. Roger was the kind of person you liked instantly and loved forever. He was like a big brother to my kids. A fond memory was when we got an inflatable pool and my son, Jonathan, at a young age, insisted on going in it before the water warmed up. Roger went right in with him! Both of them had blue lips but had fun! He protectively kept an eye on our daughter, Hillary, if someone picked on her. What a joy it was to have him in our lives and in our home when he moved back to Missisauga. He will be missed and loved forever. Rest in peace, Roger and I hope Dakoze, Cally and Max greeted you at the gates!
