Irene Morgan
MARGARET "IRENE" MORGAN
July 8, 1929 - January 20, 2019
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Morgan at Seven Oaks Hospital on January 20, 2019.
Irene will be greatly missed by her husband of 65 years Tom; daughters Linda (Guy), Sandra, Gladys; son Warren (Shelley); grandsons Brandon, Devon, Travis; as well as great grandson Merik.
Irene was born in Miami, MB on July 8, 1929. She grew up on the family farm in Rosebank. She started her working career as a sales person in a dress shop, a waitress in a pizza restaurant and also worked as a hair stylist. Her last job was with Boeing Aircraft where she worked 20 year before retiring in October 1993. At Boeing Irene formed many great and ever lasting friendships.
Many summer holidays were spent travelling with her family camping in a tent then moving up to a trailer. At that time trips were mostly in Western Canada with a trip through the BC Mountains being one of the most memorable trips.
In the mid-seventies a boat was purchased which lead to many weekends and vacations with family and friends. Much time was also spent on the Red River, fishing, skiing, and stopping in at the Bridge Drive Inn for ice cream. Fishing off the boat became a new sport for Irene. She would often sit at the bow of the boat and frequently caught more fish then the rest of us.
In the mid-eighties Irene and Tom moved from Winnipeg to a 14-acre homestead located on the Assiniboine River in St Francois Xavier MB. Both Irene and Tom grew up on the farm and had always loved the country life. They rebuilt their home, added a large shop, planted 100’s of trees, and produced an abundance of food from their large garden. Their swimming pool was the focal point for many family gatherings and family reunions. And again more travelling was done but this time it was in the comfort of a RV.
In 2006 Irene and Tom moved back to Winnipeg where they could slow down a bit and enjoy an easier pace of life. Good friendships were made with neighbors as was made wherever they lived.
Irene’s love for travel took her to both Canadian coasts and parts of the U.S. including Alaska, Hawaii, and her favorite location England.
All will miss her however our memories of her will live on with each one of us.
As per her wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services.
