OLIVER MORIN

December 4, 1954 - November 16, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Oliver Morin, beloved husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, neighbour, and friend. Oliver fought a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Oliver will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lois; his two sons Kurtis (Zelia) and Troy (Shannon); and his grandchildren - Hayden, Avah, Xavier, and Carson. Oliver is also survived by his brothers, Lou (Karen) and Perry (Margie); his sister Doris; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Oliver was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Blanche; and his sisters, Diane and Doreen.

Oliver’s greatest love was his family and getting together with family for a meal or watch a sporting event, which was always special to Oliver.

Oliver was a problem solver, a builder, a mechanic, a gardener, a golfer, and more! Oliver loved life and he had so many interests which kept him very busy every day. Some of his many interests were: golfing, curling, biking, fishing, kayaking, gardening, hiking, puzzles, cabin life, playing cards, painting, travelling, and sitting in the backyard enjoying his own personal paradise. Oliver enjoyed watching every Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue games, both in person and on TV.

Everyone who knew Oliver will remember his strong work ethic and perfection to detail on whatever he did. He had a depth of knowledge and experience that he freely shared with family and friends. He was a perfectionist and whatever he did it was done to the highest standard.

Respecting Oliver’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will have a private gathering to honour the life of our beloved Oliver on a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba

A special thank you to all the wonderful nurses, doctors and caregivers at Palliative Care.

Oliver's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Oliver, someone who brought so much light and joy into the lives of those who knew him. Oliver was affectionately known as my “Part-Time Husband,” always the first to lend a hand whenever I needed help with anything. His infectious laugh, quick humour, and kind heart made him truly unforgettable. I will miss Oliver’s visits to Penticton and the laughs and fun times we shared. The world feels a little dimmer without him, but I will forever cherish the wonderful memories we shared. My heart goes out to Lois, his family, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

R.I.P. Oliver, you will be greatly missed.

Lois and family, our deepest sympathies for your great loss. The world lost one of it's brightest stars Saturday. Rita and I now have a big empty spot in our hearts. We lost a great human being, brother, friend, mentor. Some of the best memories in our lives were because of Olly and Lois. Our friendship of over 50 years created such great moments and laughs. Olly we will miss you terribly and loved you no end. Thanks for being such a big part of our lives. Rest now my friend

Some of my favourite childhood memories were summer weekends spent at the lake or playing games at Christmas with the Morin, Acorn and Borus crew. I loved hearing stories about (or witnessing in real-time) the laughs and shenanigans our parents would partake in and the special friendships they shared - the kind where goodtimes and laughter were always guaranteed. Oliver will be so missed but we will keep him close in our special memories. All our love to Lois and the Morin family xo

We had the honour and privilege of being friends and neighbours for over 25 years.

We always enjoyed our backyard gatherings, games and a glass of wine.

Oliver was the consummate host!! Such a thoughtful and considerate person.

His attention to detail was evidenced in his backyard. It is immaculate. We often chuckled that we couldn't keep up with his work.

We will miss you Oliver.

Lois, our deepest condolences to you and your family.
