LESLIE WILLIAM JOHN MOROZ

June 12, 1944 - January 24, 2023

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved dad and papa at the age of 78. Leslie grew up in Transcona where his parents owned the restaurant at the corner of Day St. and Regent Ave. At the age of 22 he married the love of his life Suzzanne.

Leslie worked for Canadian National Railway for 41 years and retired in 2002.

He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed catching many walleye master anglers, tournament fishing and being part of Lund Pro Staff.

One of his fondest memories was moose hunting in the Kettle Hills.

Leslie was someone you could call, and he was always there when you needed him. He had a heart of gold. He spent many weekends teaching his grandson how to fix anything with a motor or taking his granddaughter shopping and out for dinner dates. Papa lived his life saying there is no such thing as can’t. That if someone else can do it you can do it.

Leslie is survived by his daughter’s Tammy and Tobi (Alan), grandchildren Mackenzie and Liberty.

Predeceased by his parents (John and Pauline), sister (Ruth), wife (Suzzanne) and his beloved dog Jackie.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held on February 20, 2023, at 2pm at East End Community Club (517 Pandora Avenue East).

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Cancer Care Manitoba in Leslie’s memory.

Leslie's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Les was a great friend of ours. We were even fortunate enough to meet his grandson at one of out Christmas parties at Litwin Auto body. RIP Les ❤

Mr. Moroz coached me and my sister in baseball for a number of years.  He had a great sense of humour and a big heart.  Over the years anytime we bumped into one another he always took the time to stop and chat.  He was always interested in hearing what we were up to.  Sending our deepest condolences to his family.  He will be greatly missed by soo many. RIP coach.

So sorry for your loss, Les was a wonderful person.  When my son was diagnosed with cancer when he was 6.  Back in my hometown during the pine falls fishing derby.   He started a fundraising for him during the fishing derby.  He was a wonderful friend, I will miss seeing him.  Fly high and catch the big one buddy.

Goodbye Les. We shared times at grand beach, also deer hunting with the crew. Our annual Halloween parties were memorable. Building a cabin at Minaki and welding on your vehicles in your messy shop. All highlights.  Going to miss you Ron Schellenberg

Great memories of the moose hunt between Swan and Pelican Lakes with Uncle Ray Hargreaves, his business partner and another friend. All I remember about the friend is he owned a plumbing business and drove a pick up with a posi rear end. He claimed he could go anywhere We could with our four wheel drives. That was a bitter cold hunt in December. We had a lot of laughs, but never got a moose. RIP Les. You were a friend to all that knew you.  Peter Savinkoff
