CHRISTINE MORRIS

It is with deep sadness we announce that Christine left us far too quickly, after a brief illness, on February 5, 2023 with her family at her side.

Christine was a loving mother, grandmother, partner, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend. It’s hard to say in a few words what our hearts loved about the beautiful woman that she was.

Christine was incredibly strong and fiercely independent. She was a cancer survivor and managed to always keep her sense of humour, even during the hardest times. She loved deeply, for as tiny as she was in stature, her love was monumental. She always had a twinkle in her eyes.  She was always up for a party. Her love for music and dancing usually turned into many impromptu living room dance parties.

Christine loved to cook and bake. Making meals for people she loved was her love language. When you were invited for dinner, you knew that a feast was waiting for you, which always included the “four basic meat groups”. Christine’s passion and therapy was in her garden. There was nothing she loved more than puttering in her yard on a sunny day. Many hours were spent outside taking care of her flowers and veggies. Garden Centres got dollar signs in their eyes when they saw her coming.

In her 34 years at Manitoba Hydro, Christine made many lifelong friends that she cherished dearly.

During her years at Hydro, Christine met her love, her best friend, her partner, Heath. Heath was there for Christine through good times and bad.  He was her safe place. Together they made a loving home that all felt welcome in.

Christine will be forever carried in the hearts of her family. Her beautiful children, Magen and her partner Gord, Dylan and his wife Bailey. Her step sons, Ethan and Henry. Her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Kaiya, Carter and Tara. Her father Raymond and his friend Elly, brothers Keith and his wife Jo-Anne, Glen and his wife Keri. Her sister-in-law, Sandra and her husband Trevor and her mother-in-law, Margaret.  “Aunt Slappy” as she was lovingly referred to had a special bond with her nieces and nephews, Ian, Emily, Jaeden, Galen, Weldon & Stella.

She was predeceased by her mother, Kathy, in 2020.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Boniface Hospital for the care they provided to Christine and the compassion they extended to us in her final hours.

A celebration of Christine’s life will take place on Friday March 3 from 6:00 to 10:00 PM at the Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Ave, Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Christine’s memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or Main Street Project.

So shocked and saddened to lose such a beautiful person. Christine had such a big heart, so kind and generous to anyone that met her. A perfect match for Heath, two of the nicest people you’d ever meet. The Shop, as we called it, was a great place to work because of people like Christine and Heath. I was fortunate to share Social Committee duties with her and many others. It was such a pleasure to talk to and work with a wonderful person that will be missed by so many.  Deepest condolences to Heath and family  Ted Sader

What a shock it’s been to lose such a lovely soul at such a young age! As has been said by many, Christine always managed to brighten the days of those she came in contact with - I can certainly attest to this!! Her smile was infectious and I always walked away with a lighter step after chatting with her. What a blessing! Condolences to the family from Darlene and I. Rest peacefully Christine

I, like so many others, am having a hard time coming to grips with Christine’s passing. My sincere condolences to Christine’s family.  I met Christine in 1986 when I joined ID Engineering.  We had some great times working and playing together.  We remained friends even after we both moved on to other jobs, her to Hydro me to the Province.  No matter how much time passed between visits it was non stop laughter when we got together.  What I loved about Christine was how she made you feel when she saw you,  like she was SO happy to see you, making you feel so special.  I will miss you dear friend.

I'm at a loss for words. My Deepest Condolences to Heath, the Kids and Christine's extended Family. I only worked with Christine for a short time in Hydro terms but it was always a pleasure. Her infectious smile, twinkle in her eyes  and her mischievous laugh brightened up the front office and the Shop. Christine was always involved in the Shop Social Club and other morale boosting lunches and activities which was much appreciated by myself and the staff. Her knowledge of Word was second to none and I always went to her for help which I certainly needed. A life gone away to early.

My heartfelt condolences to Heath, Magan, Dylan, Ethan & Henry. My mind has still not processed that Christine is gone. She was such a good friend over our many years at Waverley S.C. & beyond. Christine had the cutest little giggle & the best smile & she would light up when ever she shared pictures or talked about her children, grandchildren, nieces & nephews. We shared many good chats & great laughs at our coffee table & our Christmas parties were so much fun. These memories I will treasure forever. RIP my sweet friend. ❤

Heartbreaking news.  Christine lit up every room she was in.  She was always smiling and had the best laugh.  Absolutely the best ambassador for Manitoba Hydro as receptionist at the Waverley Service Centre.  Everyone knew her and adored her.  She was a joy to work with.  So sorry, Heath and all of Christine’s family.  Sincerest condolences to you all.  Rest in peace, dear Christine.

Still so hard to believe that Christine has passed away.  We had so much fun at our coffee table and the friendships that were formed there have carried on for many years.  Christine always had a smile on her face and loved sharing stories about her kids and grandbabies.  Heath, you made her life happy and complete.  Her passing is just so sad.

Sending our deepest condolences to Heath, Magen, Dylan, Ethan, Henry & the rest of your family. I still can't believe that Christine has passed on. I can't imagine what your family is going through. I also worked with Christine & was a big part of the Hydro family. There were lots of laughs in the office, coffee breaks and the Ladies Christmas parties. You could always count on her to quietly blurt out a funny comment and have all of us laughing. Sending all of you hugs and may you find peace in all your beautiful memories.

Christine was a fantastic word processor for all of us. She was also so much more, we talked at length about our families, co workers and the last tournament or bonspiel that was run. Her desk was a meeting place for us all. I loved talking to her and will miss her laugh a lot. So sorry to her family.

I send these condolences on behalf of my late husband, Richard Kolodie, who like Christine, worked at the WSC. Richard had a very high regard for Christine and often mentioned the contributions she made in the workplace. I know Richard would have been saddened to learn of Christine's passing. She held a special place in his heart.

Christine was a wonderful neighbor and I loved our chats over the fence. Such a kind soul, she always spoiled my sons during the holidays with treats. We are so glad that we were lucky enough to have her in our lives when we moved to Brownell Bay. Sending you so much love at this time! The Chaulk family

So shocked to hear of Christine's passing. Brought back many memories.  Carrying her around when her mom was having a gall bladder attack.  Many camping trips when our kids played  and then working together at the nursing home when she was in high school. That was fun! Later years when we would all get together for an occasion. Very sad for the family

To Heath and Family, my deepest condolences! I remember Christine from my earliest days with the corporation. I would go to Waverly and see Christine, Linda, Mrs. Erlendson, etc al and we would lament the state of the corporation and what the future would bring. I always left to continue my day feeling immeasurably better!  Throughout the years, our friendship grew and Christine always had a positive spin to add no matter what the situation was.  I am so very sad for your loss and so very grateful that I knew Christine.  Rest in Peace 🙏

So young to pass. Condolences to Heath and the family. All the poorly written documents I gave her and she made them look professional, thank you. Work was fun back in those days ,the electrical/mechanical sandwich. If we conducted ourselves like that nowadays,We’d be in the HR office. Pleasure to work with you and to know you ,rest in peace.

I’m still having a hard time processing her passing so I can not image what Heath and all the family are going through. Christine was my go to person. I don’t think I ever heard her say she couldn’t or wouldn’t help. No matter how busy she was she always made you feel like your problem was important and she helped you. Be it work related, rec club or just life in general you could always count on Christine. She had huge shoulders to go with her huge heart. Hugs… Pierre Leclaire

Christine was a sweetheart in the shop , any clerical work that could not be done by the brutes in the shop she would take off our hands with a smile . Not till she figured out what we actually wanted though. If you thought your conversation was over , but all of a sudden you remembered some issue that was not resolved . Try to catch up to her as she was walking away . Good luck catching up to her .  My condolences to you Heath and all the rest of your families .

When I was first introduced to Christine in 1990, I was told her name was “Super Chris”. They called her this because she was a super-star of the Word Processor. Chris was the typist for our entire building and would tackle any project dumped on her with enthusiasm. One time I had a 10 cm high stack of papers for recycling and a 4 page letter for typing. I dropped by Chris’ desk, put the whole pile on it and asked if she could type a letter for me? She looked at the pile, smiled and said, “Sure how soon?” I said this afternoon would be nice. She said,  “It could be tight but I’ll try.” I laughed, picked up the 4 pages and said this is the letter, the rest is recycling. I dropped off the recycling, stopped in the Weld Shop to book a welder for the next day, stopped in the Machine Shop to check on some parts and then Stores to pick up some supplies. By the time I was back at my desk. Chris had already dropped off the finished letter and disappeared again. Every time I was back in the Shop after retiring, I had to make a special stop to visit with Chris. She was a wonderful friend and I miss her greatly.
