Margo Murphy
MARGO MURPHY
September 18, 1945 – July 23, 2024
With sadness in our hearts, we would like to announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Margo Murphy. With her children close by, Margo passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Center on July 23, 2024.
Born in Drogheda, Ireland on Sept. 18, 1945, Margo immigrated to Canada with her older sister, Anne, and lived in La Salle, Manitoba with her aunt and uncle until the rest of her family from Ireland joined them in Winnipeg.
After marrying, and having her three children, Margo found herself being a single parent.
As she approached all things in her life, she used necessity and her determination to put herself through nursing school at the Misericordia Hospital. Later in her nursing career, she spent over 30 years at the VON (Victoria Order of Nursing). She valued the freedom of the work and made lasting friendships from that experience, retiring in 2015.
She was predeceased by her father, James Murphy; and her siblings, Edward, George, Michael (Jan), and Paul (Tami).
She is survived by her mother Winnifred Murphy; her siblings, Anne (Oliver predeceased), James (Louise), Goretti, Brendan, Sheilagh (Norbert), and Sean (Lynn); as well as her children, Alison (Darren), Ursula (Saverio), and Michael (Andrea); and grandchildren, Angela, Veronica, Anna, and Sophie.
A small family gathering took place to honour and celebrate Margo and her life.
Margo’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Margo was a great friend and colleague. I have many cherished memories of our time together whether at work or with our "group" outside of work or as a close personal friend. Miss you Margo!!
