LORRAINE MUSHMANSKI
September 4, 1949 – February 2, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorraine Mushmanski on February 2, 2025 with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Rob), Tracy (Chris), and Kim (Rick); son-in-law Kevin; grandchildren, Caleigh (Carlos) and David; sisters, Gloria (Alex) Byra and Janice Swistun; sister-in-law Irene Siatecki; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends.
She was predeceased by her husband John; her parents, Mike and Minnie; and most recently, her daughter Laurie in April 2024.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Lorraine also spent time at her family farm in Arborg, Manitoba. As a teenager, she attended weekend dances at "Crabby Steve’s Barn" in Komarno, where she met her future husband, John. They married in 1967, embarking on a lifelong journey together.
Shortly after marrying, Lorraine and John started their family, welcoming four daughters. Together, they established Interlake Concrete and Gravel, with Lorraine managing the bookkeeping while caring for her young girls. Once her daughters started school, Lorraine returned to the workforce, determined to save enough to purchase a camper, which she did, creating countless cherished memories with family and friends.
In 1981, Lorraine began her career with CIBC. Finding that she enjoyed the social aspect of work, she continued to advance in her career until her retirement in 2004. However, retirement was brief, as she soon started another role doing the bookkeeping for her son-in-law’s business until her "second retirement" in 2021.
Lorraine was the heart of her family—a strong, independent woman who instilled these values in her daughters. She was immensely proud of her family, dedicating herself to their well-being with unwavering love and support. Lorraine never missed David’s hockey or baseball games or Caleigh’s plays and concerts, always their biggest cheerleader.
Selfless and generous, Lorraine believed in giving much more than she received. She offered wisdom, guidance, and encouragement to her family and friends, always ready to lend a hand as a babysitter, dog-sitter, or house-sitter—whatever was needed. Her desire to help others had no boundaries.
Lorraine had a passion for travel, enjoying tropical vacations, destination weddings, and numerous trips across Canada and the U.S. She cherished these adventures, often reminiscing about the wonderful times spent with loved ones.
In accordance with Lorraine’s wishes, a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at CancerCare, Riverview Health Centre, and Grace Hospice for all their compassionate care.
Lorraine's strength, kindness, and enduring love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mom,
You will always be loved and cherished
and we take solace in knowing you have
been reunited with your dear friends,
family, and daughter, Laurie.
Rest in peace mom.
We love you.

My sincerest condolences to Lorraine's family. Lorraine and I used to work together at the Polo Park branch; she was a very hard worker, but best of all she had a terrific sense of humour. I am from Arborg, like she was, so we had many good memories reminising, talking about the old times.

I'm so sorry to hear of Lorraine's passing. We worked together for many years and she was a great mentor for all of us. She was always the first one to arrive and last to leave and basically was the glue that made it all work. Everyone loved Lorraine-she could be tough but it was always about making sure the clients were looked after. She was invaluable to all of us. My condolences to her family.

How sad to hear about Lorraine's passing.
I worked with her and Aline Russell on a project taking us all over Manitoba and Northern Ontario. It was a few months of work, laughter, eating out, driving/flying in blizzards, laughter and mega Fun! Wicked sense of humour. Loved her.
To her family...enjoy all the memories, laughter and love of Lorraine, these will keep her alive in your hearts forever!
