MURIEL GWENDOLYN NICHOLLS

December 27, 1932 – February 22, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Muriel Gwendolyn Nicholls, at the age of 92, on February 22, 2025, at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Born in Barbados, Muriel dedicated nearly 30 years to the healthcare profession at the Health Sciences Centre. Her compassion, dedication, and commitment to patient care left a lasting impression on both colleagues and those for whom she cared.

Muriel had a deep love for music and singing, often sharing her beautiful voice with friends and family. Her passion for music brought joy to those around her and remains a cherished part of her legacy.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Jennifer Nicholls (Jacques) and Abigail Nicholls as well as her former son-in-law, Yvon Lapierre; granddaughters Taila Lapierre (Jonathan) and Bianca Lapierre (Ordillon); and great-grandchildren, Malek, Laurik, Jaylen, and Alayna. She is predeceased by her siblings Vernon, Myrtle, and Euline and survived by her remaining siblings Dorothy and Rupert, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

Our family would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to the incredible staff on CD3 at Riverview Health Centre. Your kindness, compassion, and unwavering care during Muriel’s final days brought immense comfort to both her and our family. The patience and dignity with which you treated her will never be forgotten, and we are forever grateful for the warmth and support you provided during such a difficult time.

Muriel’s kindness, dedication, and love for music will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Muriel’s memory.

A memorial service to celebrate Muriel’s life will be held at 1:00pm on March 22, 2025, at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, located at 603 Wellington Crescent. This service will be recorded for those unable to attend, and the video will be added to this page at 4:00pm CST on March 22, 2025.

Muriel’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
