EDWARD NIEDZWIECKI

Edward Niedzwiecki of Winnipeg Manitoba, passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital on Sunday, June 14 at the age of 76 years.

Edward is lovingly remembered by his wife Eugenia, children Tomek and Robert, daughter-in-law Karen, granddaughter Sofia, sisters Helena and Elzbiete, and numerous extended family. He was predeceased by his parents Wojciech and Anna, brothers Bronek and Jósef, and sister Stavistawa.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2020 in St. Andrew Bobola Church Interment followed, in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Headingley. For those unable to attend, a video recording of the service will be published here, on this page shortly after the services.

Friends and family that desire: memorial donations can be made in Edward’s memory to the Grace Hospital Foundation.

Edward was a kind and friendly soul with a big sense of humour. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbours. He loved music and played the accordion for family and friends at gatherings to lift spirits and bring joy.

Edward was one of six children and was born in Zozuli, Ukraine. He and Eugenia were married on June 15, 1968 in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland, and over the next 52 years raised their sons Tomek and Robert and welcomed their granddaughter Sofia into their lives. They immigrated from Poland to Canada in the early 1980's.

Edward gave everything for his family. He and Eugenia left their homeland and started over in a new country to give their family a better life. Edward worked hard to give his sons a better future, first honing his skills as an autobody specialist and then as an assembly technician working at Boeing Aerospace for 16 years.

Most summers, the family went on a trip to the mountains, which was a favourite destination. In 2005, Edward retired to go with Eugenia to live their dream of living near the mountains year-round. They spent nine years in Creston, BC visiting friends and eating numerous cherries. They eventually moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to their sons.

Edward was precise and detailed, and taught his sons the value of hard work, taking the time to do things right, and enjoying the little things in life.

He will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts forever.

I will never forget the Christmas we all spent together in Sudbury. I can still see Wujek Edek dressed up in a buttoned-up shirt, playing his accordion with that infectious smile and a wink. His passing is a loss for everyone who knew him. Our family extends our deepest sympathy and condolences. Rest In Peace Wujek.  ❤ Sending love, Ania, Eric, Maya and Julia
