Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Robert (Rob) Nilsson, has passed away after a lengthy battle with illness.

Robert passed peacefully, October 18, 2019, with loved ones by his side.  He will be cherished in memory by his wife Cathy; sons Curtis (Marnie), and Ryan (Joni); sister Connie (Dick); nephews Mike and Marc, great-nephew Dylann; niece Kristen and many other family members living out west.

Rob worked at Carte International for 30+ years.  He spent his free time being a jets fanatic and could be seen frequently using pencils as drum-sticks when his drums weren’t readily available.  He loved road trips and camping.  He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who asked.

May he rest peacefully.

Dear dad, I’m sorry you had to go so soon. To have to say good bye to an inspirational person like you........ it’s not easy. Knowing the numerous lives you’ve touched, with good and great memories, you leave behind a legacy of love and laughter, that will be held close to the heart by many. We may not have always seen eye to eye. But once I figured out what you were talking about, and what you meant by many of the lessons you taught. I realized I’d be a better person in the end. So thank you for helping me become who I am. I couldn’t be me with out you. Love and miss you like crazy.

My son in law was a fantastic tour guide. I learned so much more about Winnipeg. He loved to show off this city and province. Gimli and Hecla were among the favourites.  He was always respectful  and extremely kind. I will always treasure the CDs he made for me.  He showed me how to bet at fthe Downs. Loved the ponies. Forever in our hearts. Mom and Pops

My heart is sad as I remember my friendship with Rob. He was one of the kindest person I knew. I have many memories from are many camping trips to Hecla. The many times he fixed my sewing machine.and never once said it would probably work if it didn't have a spool of thread stuck inside. He would just smile. Then there is the time him and Kelly decided to build a fence after a few too many wobbly pops but that fence is straight and still standing after 3o years. Then any Christmas and Newyears eves we shared. My thoughts are with you Cathy,Curtis Marni,Ryan and Joni. I hope you find comfort knowing his family was his greatest treasure.

My heart is so heavy thinkong about all the things I remember about you Rob! For almost 40 years you made me giggle and smile. Whether we were having our silly contests to see who had the best joke or razzing each other for the hockey teams we cheered for!! 😄 I always think of you whenever I see anything to do with Taz! You will always be that guy I bragged about that I knew who could play Wipeout almost better then the original artist! Thank you for the smiles, and memories of driving in your big red truck to Williams Lake playing drums on your steering wheel listening to classic rock! Thank you for loving and taking care of my sister❤ Cathy, Curtis & Marnie, Ryan & Joni we are sending huge hugs, prayers of peace and a ton of love! XOXO Rose, David, Brennah and Cayli

I have known Rob most of my life. We didn't always see eye to eye on things in the beginning. It may have something to do with the fact that at the age of 13 I did blackmail Rob into buying me a pizza and a jar of olives. As time went by he eventually forgave me and we became good friends and more than just in-laws. Rob was always very kind to me, and my children all have very fond memories of Uncle Rob especially, Zach. Rob was a talented musician and helped Zach buy his first guitar. Zach will never forget that special time with his Uncle Rob. You are much loved Rob and I will always be grateful for the strong arms that held Cathy and up as we buried our father. I will miss you man! Cathy, Curtis, Ryan. Marnie and Joni you are all in my thoughts and prayers. We are sending hugs and support and so much love.  Lisa & Bruce
