EMILIO MICHELE NUCCI

November 12, 1927 - March 3, 2022

With heavy hearts, we announce that Emilio Nucci passed away on March 3, 2022, in West Park Manor Personal Care Home at the age of 95 years.

He is survived by his spouse of 64 years (Teresa); children Mario and Antonio (Gary); grandchild Michael (Danielle); Niece Maria Pepe (Mike); Nephew Emilio; and many cousins.

Emilio was born on November 12th, 1927, in Grimaldi, Italy. He immigrated to Canada in 1950 where he married his dedicated spouse, Teresa. Together they became the first merchants on Corydon Avenue opening up Nucci’s Imported Foods in 1960; a business that would last the span of 33 years.

Emilio had a wonderful sense of humour and loved to laugh amongst friends. He had a distinct passion for soccer and enjoyed the game whenever possible. Emilio enjoyed walking the family dog, tending to his vegetable garden, listening to Italian opera and relaxing in the shade of his backyard. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Emilio’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

A celebration of Emilio’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church), for family members, followed by an entombment at Assumption Cemetery.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints of snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn's rain.

When you awaken in the mornings hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush

of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there. I did not die.

Sincere condolences to the entire Nucci family.  The history of Corydon's Little Italy would not be complete without noting the contributions of Emilio.  He was a strong man and devoted to his family.
