Jacqueline Olivier

JACQUELINE CORA-GRACE OLIVIER
September 30, 1955 - November 20, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline Cora Grace Olivier, on November 20, 2025 at the age of 70.
She is survived by her daughters Monique Olivier (with James Young) and Suzanne Olivier (with Jaisen Evans), her sisters Lorraine Henry and Diane Pohl, her brothers Ronald Hancox, Robert Hancox, Richard Hancox, and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Aimé Olivier, and her parents, Ralph Hancox and Sr. Denise LaFlèche.
Jacqueline was born on September 30, 1955 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba and was the eldest of 6 children. She received her calling in healthcare working at a personal care home, and then pursuing a career as a labour and delivery nurse at St. Boniface hospital for nearly 30 years; most of that time spent as a CRN on the evening shift. In that time, she delivered thousands of children, nursed and cared for many labouring mothers and their families, oriented and mentored her colleagues, and provided support and kindness to patients, visitors, fellow nurses, and physicians. Her steadfast attitude, calm demeanour, and long experience inspired generations of nursing students.
As a mother, she provided quiet love and guidance and a cheeky sense of humour that always delighted friends and family. She also instilled in her daughters a fierce and enduring curiosity for the living world. Jackie was never happier than when she was crouched in a ditch, admiring wildflowers or in the bush sneaking handfuls of saskatoons. She could also be found worshipping the sun by the pool after a morning of planting snapdragons and tomatoes, falling asleep with a good mystery novel in her lap. She also loved her husband Ray deeply, and patiently supported his participation in all of his hobbies, surrounded by collections of books, records, home-videos, and state-of-the-art tech. Together, they built a home full of joy and whimsy, for Mo and Suz, but also for their many friends who sometimes needed a safe place to land. Ray and Jackie were each other's port in a storm, and after 20 years, are now reunited in eternal love.
Thank you to everyone who sat with her and comforted her in the most difficult hours, sometimes through the night. Whether you provided company, food, or kind words in a text, you are appreciated.
In Accordance with Jacqueline's wishes, cremation has taken place, and celebration of life for her is being planned for spring.
Any donations in Jacqueline's name can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, the Grace Hospital Foundation, or the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

My condolences to the family, I was a friend of Jackie's through Bill W, I hadn't seen her in a long while, always wondered how she was doing. She is well remembered and respected with the group. I am so saddened to hear of her passing. May she rest in peace. I would love to attend a celebration of life for her in the spring. Please somehow if you can let me know or the people at Firststep AA.

I am so very saddened by this news. Jaqueline was such an amazing human being, she was a dear friend from high school and we kept in touch over the many school reunions over the years. She always showed up with her Celtic Cheerleading Beanie 🩷 She will be missed 🩷 and I will really miss our conversations. Our deepest heartfelt condolences to her daughters whom she was so proud of. 🩷🩷
