Lorraine Paluck

LORRAINE MAXINE PALUCK
February 8, 1957 – July 6, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorraine Maxine Paluck of Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 6th, 2025.
She was predeceased by her parents, Maxine Paluck (née Langstaff) and Walter Paluck; as well as her birth Mum Rosa Maiert (née Mathieu). She is survived by her only begotten son Ph`razer Lasombra; as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who knew her well and will miss her dearly.
She was born and raised in Winnipeg, went to school at Florence Nightingale and then Sisler High School; and got her BA from University of Winnipeg.
Lorraine worked most of her life as a freelance artist in associations with Winnipeg Sketch Club, Manitoba Society of Artists and The Calligrapher`s Guild of Manitoba. Her artworks won many awards and will live on to carry her memory, as will her love of photography, which she would take hundreds of photos per day. She ended up working from home for Josten`s Photo Finishing, touching up photo negatives for the various schools around the province before settling on a career as a security officer with Garda, Initial, and then 55 Nassau, eventually retiring when she got her cancer diagnosis.
She eventually married and moved a block away from her childhood home when she had her first and only child. After the divorce, she made numerous friends in the Beginning Experience support group, of which she kept in contact with right up to the end with her Ladies Lunching group and potlucks.
She was an avid dancer with her Scottish Country Dancing group and social group out at Da Copa. After her mum passed away she got in touch with her birth family; which went very well and got to know even more family from then on.
After a short ordeal with breast cancer (about four years or so) she passed away at St. Boniface hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, which took good care of her at the end.
She was always down to earth but larger than life in personality and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24th, 2025 at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road.
Lorraine’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

I got to know Lorraine as a fellow chemo patient at St Boniface Hospital. She was a bright light, and her sense of humour was alive and well. Rest well Lorraine - you were an inspiration to me as you lived each day with positivity and good humor.

We at 55 Nassau are deeply saddened to learn of Lorraine's passing. Lorraine worked as a security guard at our condo building, where her presence was a familiar and steady part of daily life.
Though we only recently received the news, we wanted to share our heartfelt condolences with her family and close friends.
Lorraine was one of a kind, quirky, spirited, and firm when it mattered.
Our thoughts are with her loved ones.

I knew Maxine well . As a child I spent many hours on her back porch playing with her numerous cats, getting my first cat Buddy from her. Maxine always said if she got a little girl she would name her Lorraine after me. I extend my deepest condolences to her family .Rest in peace Lorraine.

Although Lorraine was my cousin, I didn't know her well, however, the last time I saw her I instantly felt the warmth and kindness that she exudes. RIP Lorraine.

My heart is so so sad. From the time Lorraine found us her, birth family, I was so happy. My cousin, my friend, I felt I had a sister as well. We had so little time to get to know each other, We celebrated our birthdays, and holidays via mail, email and FB, and had enjoyed A few visits back and forth over last 12 yrs. RIP cuz love you bunches. Will you humor, wittyness. Cheers. We have another angel above to watch over us xo

I have known Lorraine since early childhood and have had sporadic, pleasant encounters with her through the years...most recently at our recent Sisler High School reunion. Artistic, genuine and always kind...she'll live on in memory.
